For FOWLR, lighting is more for viewing pleasure. Changing to T5 might give you more options to play with different light tubes but thats about it. If you do not plan on introducing corals to your tank, you dun really need to bother about the wattage of the lights. As what Bro Limpc mentioned, if you do not wish to spend too much, better dun change. Normal PL lights will suffice for FOWLR.

around 5watts per gallon of water..u can't say that SPS, LPS, mushroom need how much and how much... that's why u need to look at the placement of ur corals...and also the power of ur lights...

u can't drive a BMW to compete in a F1 race...

some corals like sun coral dun need light and some corals with zoo algae need plenty of lights..

so u need to judge by their characteristic when placing them in ur tanks..

normally T5 is good enough for mushrooms, polyps, LPS and some other corals...

MH is required if u wanna keep SPS....

For Fish-only, FL lightings are enough...but T5 lights are better becos they generally provides less heat compare to FL...
