Is it possible? There are no ballast that are of compatible wattage to drive 2 bulbs.

Maybe 400W to drive two 175W?

Now I am confused. You want to use a 1000W ballast to power how many bulbs? Four 250W?

Then I hope an electrical engineer chimes in on the feasibility of the project. The price of ballasts across the wattages don't vary a lot, neither do bulbs too.

i really dunno if that's possible to string a ballast for the lights ... ie 1000W ballast for 4 x 250W lights .... so you gonna string them in series or parallel ... if series .... if 1 gets blown ... the rest will not be able to work ... but in parallel , you will need 4 times the current for each light ... so it's quite tricky ... need some electrical guy to sought that out for you !! <_

May not be possible as MH bulbs have certain ballast designed to run them. Between a 1000 watt and 250 watt they will require a different striking voltage as well as current. 4 x 250 watt internal resistance is not the same as 1 1000 watt bulb. Either u burn the ballast, blow the igniter or bulb or do all at the same time or it won't even light up.
