hi jervis. may i know is there a tell tale sign on when we should chg the sorb4?eg colour or 4-6mths once...???

im using the twin chamber fr am and alre abo 4mths ++ running the media.(new tank)

also can we actually mix sorb4 with rowap in one chamber?

thx.

No there is no tell tale signs.. as with all PO4 removal media.. You need to measure your tank's PO4 level occasionally. If it starts to get high again, then its time to change the media.

I dun see why you can't mix the 2 brands together. Shouldn't have any adverse effects. Just dun mix PO4 media with GAC.. Unless using the twin chamber to separate them. Else you'll bee either wasting your PO4 media by have to change everything every 2 - 3 months. Or by leaving the GAC too long in your tank and cause bad stuff to leech back into the water.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

I'm using it for 2-3 weeks already but my PO4 is still very high!!!

Does this thing really works???

Is it proven yet??

So many have been using Sorb4 for years and you are asking is it proven?? :whistle

Maybe you should consider other PO4 contributing factors like your feeding regime, feeding frequency, salt brand, tap water for water topup or water change?

I have just restarted my tank and installed my old Skimz FR-150 back into the sump. Before firing up the FR, PO4 is at 0.015ppm (high sensitivity test kit). Let it run for a week and test again :)

If a man could beat his own fantasy. Then to only breed in captivity. Then its pointless.

Genesis 1:20

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

I have a slight problem. My media is not moving at all for afew weeks already. Has been like that since I fired this thing up. I'm using FR-150 with Atman 104 2000l/h pump. The whole chunk is like laying at the bottom of the FR. Anyone knows the reason?

1) have you installed correctly?( the hose barb in the center of the top of your FR is the inlet pipe from your pump.

2)if installaion is right, then try to adjust the valve at the atman pump outlet, maybe flow not enough so cause the media stop moving..

if everything fail, give me a ring. (i seldom online..so call me.) cheers.

Just got a set from Aquamarine on Sat nite. Agree it's workmanship is good. Still considering what flowrate pump to use

Do share the experience of your fr150, thinking to change a bigger fr. I like the new design compare to my old skimz.Presently using rowa, no complaint about it but will give sorb4 a try since it comes with the fr.

Hi Bro, it should be placed near the return since it is supposed to provide processed water to your main tank....just my thought....

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

Algae Scrubbler

can say that.....it is supposed to process your water and from there goes to your tank. Unless you want the FR water to be further processed....

just take my opinion as reference...i may be wrong...wait for more experienced reefers to advice....

how is your tank...still waiting for your masterpiece...hehe

i asked because the FR pump is oso in d same compartment as my return pump. So i believed some of the processed water will go into the FR again, am i correct to say that?

walao my tank is just a simple FOWLR la, definitely not a master piece or anything.

it depends on the source. If the inlet source is at the skimmer compart and your outlet is to your return compartment, minimum recycling.

1. My skimmer is in d rtn compartment

2. FR pump/inlet/outlet oso in d rtn compartment

so recycling is quite a bit right?

bro, think you better take a pic of your sump. Based on your description, it seems like your sump has very few compartment....all in the rtn compartment....you didnt face any micro bubble issue which is good...

actually there are quite a no of small compartments which i think is useless cause cannot put anything at all. so i removed a few pcs of partition to make the space bigger so that the skimmer can fit in. so now left only with 2 compartments that's y all the equipments are at the same compartment. i got no microbubbles problem though.

You can see d layout of the sump.

though a bit dim, i think you only got 2 main compartment, first one for the wool and rock and the other one for returns. The ex. owner did gravity feed or house the skimmer on the right hand side(facing the tank). So your placement seems the only way unless you do partition to separate them. If there is no algae issue, should be fine. Hehe.

yalor that's y u see all my equipments are being squeezed into one compartment. Not going to do anymore modifications as everything is doing fine now.
