Worms growing on clam

Those tube worms are very common on clams, especially between the scutes. No problem, you can leave them there.

Tubeworms are harmless... it's the predatory bristleworms or fireworms that you have to worry about.

They are known to attack the exposed bases of clams, especially those which are not secured to a protective rock base.

Some are known to crawl in and eat the clam inside out.

I suspect that happened to one of my clams once...

Sorry, I can't see any worms. My Clam has little red things growing on the shell. They are short and straight. about ten of such things are on my clam. Harmful?

I have those too... but growing on the hard tubes of my coco worms. I believe they may be tiny frags of fire coral, sharp and may causes tingly rashes when touched.

Dun worry too much about this.
