OMG! Look at these hybrids and rare fishes!

Let's look at some pics of this rare and often confused species, all generally called as peppermint hogfish(to date only iwarna has imported 2 of the species).

Let's see in order of rarity, least rare first:

1) Bodianus sepiacaudus (Cebu, Marshall Island, source:liveaquaria, bring in by Iwarna twice named candycane wrasse)

This have been imported to local market before as normal hogfish at a price tag of less than $10... Haha...

Yap most likely becos izuensis (also called candycane hog) is also found in the philippines, so that's why we may have got it cheap. But those caught in cebu and japan at great depth carry a heavy price tag. Nevertheless the fish is still deepwater and rare so the person who has bought the fish at less than 10 bucks should be proud of his possesion. :)
