Green striped mushroom limp

Hi, just got this green striped mushroom yesterday, but it appears to be limp now and not really opening. Is that a normal response?

Also, are striped green or blue mushrooms more expensive than normal more dull-coloured ones? Paid $18 for this- that the normal price?

Switch off yr skimmer for 1-2hrs, and drip some plankton into the water. Your mushies should open up wide.

If you want yr mushies to frag, add iodine.

I got my green stripes less than that, but colour not as bright as yours.

Probably yours is aquacultured / premium grade, so cost more.

Btw, where u bought yrs?

Thanks for your advice. So does the opening effect continue after feeding is finished? I thought it should remain more firm and open like when I saw it in lfs.

Got it from AM, got a few more specimens there.

Bro, sometime, it will be good for them to get use to your setup. Overreacting at times is not encouraged. As long as it is not melting.....it should be opening up nicely with sufficient light. : )

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Once you off yr lights, they will "shrink" or rather go to sleep...so dun be alarmed.

What i do everyday, before i go to work, i switch off my skimmer for about 30mins and drip some plankton. After that they will open up wider.

Normally, if you do not drip plankton, they will still open up so long you switch on yr lights, but not so wide.

Green stripe mushies do not open as big as purple mushies thru my observations.

OK, thanks for the input.

I am giving Aquachem 5 in 1 Coral Food. The plantkton etc inside the bottle should not be alive right?

Hi Bro,

One of the reason can be your tank might be too new.

Second reason reason, it just need some time to stable down on the new home. Just watch your water parameter and temp.

Just my 2 cents.
