During the cycling period, I had 2 live rocks in the tank. I also threw in a dead market prawn.

Water changing was done after cycling, not during. Unless cycling is not completed.

In my test kit, the range for NO2-N is from < 0.1 mg/l to 5 mg/l and range for NO2 is from < 0.3 mg/l to 16.5 mg/l.

So if you say these should be zero, does that mean that the water shouldn't change color when I drip in the solutions?

then I think its safe to say that if it doesn't change colour, its 0. but then again, that may not be the case. trace amounts of NO2 and NO3 may still exist, but the reagent isn't sensitive enough to pick it up only.

best is to sit here and hang in here. there will be expert people to help you. :P
