Hi guys, its been 3 years since I touched saltwater... this is my nano tank before I enlisted...

post-34-1121662480.jpg

so after ORD-ing and working for a year... I guess it is time to return to this hobby, and what better way than to start with a pico =)

I guess I'll be going for the following...

HARDWARE

2-3 Gal tank

Hang-on filter (To create water-flow and increase additional water volume filter in whatever media; like carbon, etc)

Lights - Whatever I can get my hands on to fit the tank.. I guess I've to go with PL lights right?

LIVEWARE

Live sand (Anyone want to share? I would'nt need an entire whole pack of live-stand...)

Live Rocks (Anyone selling? :P)

Some exotic corals for Picos (Again, anyone have some? Don't mind buying of fellow reefers or go shopping and share the coral.. I wouldnt need the entire bit anyways)

Fishes, Shrimps & Inverts (Lets stick with exotic rare ones that are not too demanding)

Anyone wanna start a pico or nano too? I guess since our systems will be so small and most products like live sand and corals can be shared with someone else...

Want half of my shrimp? I'll take the head:P

Best regards,

David L

Why not consider something larger? Like a 24G or 28G nano instead? more room to store your gems now that you're working :)

Then you don't need to share any sand, one bag just nice, heheheh

I want small la... anyone wanna go shopping? =D

Live sand might be hard to find at the moment, many shops are out of stock.

But if you only need small quantity I might be able to spare about 2 - 4kg of Caribsea Carribbean Live sand

if you can pickup yourself in the NE Area (Bendemeer)

Its $45 for 9kg bag, so $5 per kg lor, its new and unused of course.

PM me if you need.

Live Rock a good place to try would be AM at Jalan Kayu, they usually have lots of small pieces, can go pick and choose yourself, I think its about $7 a kg.

For a tank your size, 1kg should be enough leow.

Updates:

- I've manage to dig up an old tank somewhere in my storeroom... it is about 2 gallons.

Ocrean free curved front one.

- I've did alot of research and settled for the DYMAX LED lights at about $22

- Found an old hang-on filter also, manage to get that clean up

- Got matured water from a good o friend

- Added a piece of Live Rock and a "rock" of mini colonies of coco worms.

Right now I am lookin for live sand, or mature sand from somebody's aquarium.. i think 1-2 handfull can liao :P

The lights work REAL well, I'm very very happy with it.

Will show pics soon!

- You can get this DYMAX LED light almost anywhere now.. Clementi LFS have also, about $22 bucks - It is indeed bright.

- I don't know how I'm going to do a test, as the camera I'm using is a simple point and shoot camera hmm.. =\

- I'm definitely not going to put any corals on the cocoworms, maybe on the live rock in front of it.

- An update... I saw two worms crawling around the bottom of my tank... hmm is my flow too high? or are they hungry? hmm.

(I think they're cocoworms)

- DYMAX. Cheap and good for picos, lets hope DYMAX and other brands hurry make LEDs for 2 feeter at a consumer price! The real reason why I love it besides the DIMMING CAPABILITIES. Is that there is virtually almost no heat at all.

- I really need 2 handfull of live sand or mature sand, anyone got lobang? :(

Updates

- I've added, 2 real tiny fishes (give you guys the names later), 1 mini orangey hermit crab and 1 snail over the past 2 days.

I realized after I introduced my first fish that there is no way I can feed without having lots of leftovers because 1 mirco fish won't be able to eat so much plus if i feed a mirco sized potion, it might get lost!

- So right now with the livestock I have I'm still not very happy with the leftovers, I might get some sexy shrimps to help clean up the leftovers.

By the way I'm feeling frozen food from ML (Anyone wants some? I've too much of it)

- I realized those red worms are crawling around are cocoworms becos i saw 2 more slowly crawling out of their colonies and exploring around. I think they are not feeling comfortable there. Right now I don't have a sandbed so they are simply just crawling around the bottom of my tank.. hope they find what they're looking for... I think with some sand bed it'll be better.

- Just now I counted there were just about more than 40 coco worms "opened" Will update you guys their progress. I suppose the frozen food I feed my livestock would also feed these worms in someway I hope.
