Very nice. Will be a fantastic tank down the road.

Did you do any coating on the hinges, screws? Can delay / minimize the rust effect.

Ever thought of getting some stickers to paste on the screws on the "L-shaped support bracket"?

Yes, i did some oiling using WD40 to prevent the rust.. Hear that some reefer uses Nail painting apply to prevent rusty on the hinges as well.. :whistle

they are a few ways you can save on spending on the live rocks, using partial dead rocks mixed with some quality live rocks or getting matured rocks from one of the reefer in the pasar malam section lor ... :upsidedown:

kekkeke.... that's why you still need more rocks.... not enough in the pasar malam section. :lol:

Hi, if you are planning SPS going forward. You may want to scape it in a way that you can remove some of the rocks easily.

I setup my current tank for LPS initially with lots of rocks. Then i caught the SPS flu-bug and now had problem trying to remove rocks without "killing" the whole environment. :(

Notice you do not have filter wool in your slump. Do i need it? I am designing my sump to have the first section for filter wool then flow into skimmer than refuge then return. If no required, i can have more space for my refuge.

Another photos of my finish piping.. 2 return and 2 50mm overflow piping at the side..

These things don't work for marine tank. There will be snails, tude worms etc. growing and prevent such check valve to function normally.

Never use this as a way to prevent water flowing back to sump ! it really useless

I believe filter wool ( Mechnical filteration ) is not really necessary, unless you have descpline to clean / replace it regularly.. A good skimmer should be able to skim out all the waste, and if you go diving in the water you will see those floating particles around you as well in the natural environment ..

Yes, you are right i do encounter this issue as well in my old 4ft setup.. Had alot of problem shifting and rescarpping the rocks ect.. So i hope all the big rocks i got this time will minimize the shifting :)

A mechanical filter, wool, is still important for easy maintanance. It's either changing the wool or siphoning debris in the sump regularly. Also don't expect the skimmer to remove the debris. It doesn't work that way.

Personally I would still prefer to have a layer (it can be a thin one) to remove the any unwanted (unskimmable) particles.

It helps to remove unsightly particles in the tank too.
