Then you still have the wavemakers. either the articfical rock or if not, epoxy some nice small pieces to from arcs, plateaus , caves,... can model after the articial rocks. quite nice. My tank has 10 pcs of liverocks inside. jackywongto
Did a thorough water test today. salinity 1.025 PH is still swinging from 8.0 - 8.45 (it used to be fluctuate only between 8.1 - 8.3) KH = 7. will need to diligiently increase this to 10 in hope that PH will be more stable. ammonia 0 nitrite 0 phosphate - between 0 - 0.5 I really cannot differentiate the colour. nitrate 10ppm. Strange.. where is this coming from. So lightly stocked. Calcium 420 - great. Will try to increase this to approx 450. Magnesium only 1100. I have not been adding mg because I did not have the tester. Now I can proceed and value should increase over the next 2 weeks. Question: I have seen PH buffers. Are these added to hold PH at a constant level? Will they help in my situation? jackywongto
SPS update: My PH is fluctuating between 8.0 - 8.4, so I am not expecting miracle. I have placed this fella at the highest point with max flow. If I switch on only the blue light, I can see more green developing on one side of the coral. There is no development of tissue tear so that is good. It is at least not deteroriating. Mixed feeling about this guy. The green is disappearing fast and you can see some white bone at the tips but at the same time, there seem to be more polyps extension. no idea how he is doing. This is my green monti. Actual coral is a little between brown and green colour. Where I take a photo, it always appear brown. dunno why is that. photoshop this to reflect the colour. Should be doing pretty well. This purple fella should be surviving too. No deteroriation visible. Think I can start to see some polys at the tip. I am hoping that as the water condition improves, these SPS should do better. I need to solve the PH fluctuation problem 1st. Anyone has any ideas/ suggestion how to achieve that?
