Need help for all of you here.

As this tank I try to make it simple to maintain and low cost. I opt to go for natural filtering by using DSB in sump and macro algae to export NO3. (This is quite successful in my 5 feet tank). I under stand that PO4 also export by macro algae or some of plant.

How about Silicate is this need to be concern? I not sure how Silicate import to close system. If introduce by sand or some things that we use to setup. Then run some filter media for firt few month to export should be ok. But if it need to continue export like NO3 or PO4. Do we have any natural way to control it? or it not in concern at all if both NO3 and PO4 in control

If you use DI water for the initial start up and DI water throughout water changes and top ups, you will hardly have silicate issues.

Thank you for your info. Yes currently I use DI water. just want to know how to export it naturally.
