Just looked at the hermit crab again. Its actually black with bright orange stripes on its legs. Its shell house is about an inch in diameter and covered with coralline algae. Its an attractive creature (is why I bought it in the first place) and it has done excellent clean-up work of unwanted detrius) but .. eventually, I had to take the little bugger out of my main tank because it was crawling all over the the aquascape work, and had toppled (for the upteenth time), small coral pcs .. and the guys who have seen and helped out with my tank know that it is a "pain-in-the-behind" to put them back in place due to the height & depth of my aquarium!!

Anyway, its living in my refugium until I can sell it to someone who would make better use of it. Will post a photo when I get a chance ... :-)

the one you have is more like Calcinus sp. (Electric Orange Hermit Crab)

the common one is Clibanarius tricolor (Blue legged Hermit Crab)

thus i believe its just a wrong title to your thread leading to this misunderstanding.

Picture says a thousand words... I'm not sure what hermit is this, but definitely not an electric blue legged one. Its quite nice. Upz for you!
