Be careful not to overdose iodine. It is toxic in high quantities.

Some people believe that the food you feed the tank will contain enough iodine, so dosing iodine supplements will only be for tanks which have a high coral load.

actually I added iodide because my algae is turning white .. didnt expect to see the mushrooms becoming fluffy.

a tip(you might already know this but still): Iodide is more stable than iodine and safer to use. Less toxic.

I added that iodide, six drops in a week to my 2ft last time. My clove polyps all didn't open properly the next day. They partially recovered after 3 weeks but were wiped out by one other treatment. The other times they had been fine with the iodine. Maybe the dose was too close to the prev. dose.
