Pls help! Somethings wrong but I dunno wht!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Something seem to be wrong with my tank but I'm not sure wht. Some lps seem to have started melting away since yest while others are fine. Below are some of the parameters I got this afternoon.

Temp: Btw 27-28

Salinity: 1.027

Nitrate: 2

Calcium: 410

Manesium: 1500

Alkalinity: 7.2

Apart frm salinity which seem to be higher then the ideal level, I think the rest are considered be within acceptable limits.

-NP Bio-pellet D&D onceanic hang-on reactor

Your salinity should not go beyond 1.023. Your nitrates should not be too high. Either you have not been doing the regular water changes or you have too many fish in your tank. Your temperature should not be higher then 26 degrees.

1.027, though high, is fine if whatever you measure with is tuned accurately. That is seldom the case though. I'd go with the advice for water change to lower it down. Ur temp is fine dun have to worry about that. Do remove the melting heads as well as they can affect the healthy ones nearby.

suggest that you dont place corals so closely to each other as they might attack each other and causes it to be injured / melt

place them reasonably apart and do water changes (after calibrating your salinity meter/ph) and monitor their condition (with your healthy corals as a sign to see whether all is ok)
