  1. amount of lr in a tank also depend on the quality of LR u get.. if u get all dead rocks den it does not serve much purposes... get those very good quality lr such as fiji rocks and you may need less.... you may also want to consider the amount o rocks according to your intention for the tank. eg you may wish to build towers so that some of your corals can get more of the lights for good health.
  2. "aiyah....where got problem one...no problem!!!! u ask me if attack? nah..they no attack one (they just glurp the smaller fish up in one big WHOOPP. no attack needed)." no fish no problem.
  3. fwahhh....the skin looks so red and crispy...... almost drool den recall it's a mouse..den i duh.
  4. hi fellow reefers... came across this page HERE and had a nasty shock regarding marine bacteria... i need to owe up that sometimes i like the smell of the tank water so much that i don't really feel like washing my hands after putting them in for some re-scraping, etc. gotta change this bad habit from now onwards...
  5. Normally we would leave the lights for our tanks from 8-12 hours and I leave them on for about 11 hours a day. Was wondering if it's possible for us to switch the lights on in 5 hours shifts, then off it the next 3 hours and then on for another 4 hours or something?Has anyone tried alternative lighting hours other than 8-10hrs stretch? Please share your opinions on this. The main reason why I am bringing is up is that some of us have to work really long hours and might be out of home for more than 12 hours some times and by the time we reach home, the lights are already shut off and we might not be able to look at our tank until the next morning.
  6. it's a sea pen. i have one for many months now, one of my very first addition to my tank. Quite hardy in my opinion and I just dose some DT live planktons to it occassionally. It would find a nice comfortable area and dig into the sandbed. after 8 hours of opening it would slowly deflate itself and disappear into the sand. "now u see it, now you don't!"
  7. If you can find other hardier corals such as candy cane/trumpet, it woul be good cuz they add to colours too... Try lookin out for different colours of buttons too, some red some bluish, some white.... if your hammer is doing well, why not consider bubble or frogspawn as well?
  8. i guess they look a little different on TV and in pics....
  9. oh i see... i am quite ignorant about the caulpera and other macroalgae and i have an idea they so called become asexual and thus leading to deaths to the LS in the main tanks...hmm...den doesn't it turn asexual too in the refugium?
  10. so a pair of reefers can go different LFS and inform each other of the stock updates.
  11. after keeping my 3 purple gobies for a few months, i realize they look really kinda fiercer den the orange ones.....heee
  12. nah.... believe that they are more likely covering the tank with some hood or trying to empty the safe to push the tank in...
  13. how about water movements? solely based on the skimmers?
  14. i think Octopuffy should read this...
  15. wahhh.... no wonder you know so much..heeeeeeeeeeee... for a second i thought you have followed the reefer secretly & studying the tank daily from de kopitiam..
  16. cheers... hahaha.... please do not worry for us. we are not fighting or quarrelling...just learning about each other's perspective hhehehe sorry to get everyone worried.
  17. perhaps people like to save on sand and then invest on the test kits ma...cannot generalize people this way.
  18. I don't agree with your statements. Yes, it might be a so-called 'cheapo' behaviour but 'cheapo' does not equate to irresponsible reefers (at least it does not indicate the amount of time or attention he devotes to his tank) and buying the most expensive equpiments or chemicals also do not mean the person is very responsible. Hence, it got nothing to do with commitment. If you get hand-down clothes or clothes, that does not mean you are cheapo or non-committal.
  19. wah...sea apple! i rem the first time i saw a sea apple i was very amused....find it look so much like a mouldy peach and not apple... so isn't it difficult to keep a sea apple? what does it feed on?
  20. aiyoh.... cannot la cannot la..cannot promote gayism in our reef tank. *shake head*
