17/m... waiting for o level results.......... working in samuel&kevin and ebase warehouse.........reefing since i was 14(reminds me when i was 14.. always like to fight and put axe oil on teacher chair)..... currently have a 3 feet marine tank 3 feet discus tank and a 4x2x2 1/2 feet plant tank.......

ive been caught in that situation alot of times...... what u need is multiple battery operated air pump... with a length of air tube........... operate 2 units or more on ur main tank..... and one unit in ur sump........ they say the time is only estimated.. they will usually finish their work earlier....... now my tank has a battery operated pump attached to it... and battery changed every month........ in case of emergency power cut............. i just need to flick a switch and thats it.......

i dont think the light lowering cause any effect.... if it is the lights then all your clams might be affected.. this is only one clam affected......... might be due to other reasons.... there is a thousand and one reason as to why clams suddenly die....... just to list a few stress (due to fish nipping) disease parasites keep on moving the clams.. the place u put it not ideal.... blah blah....

Imo its not enough... if u are on a budget and cant afford a beckket... go for red sea berlin skimmer then.... one of my friend is using that for his sps reef with no problems.....
