  1. Thanks leh... Where got show hand hahaha... Wilson thinks that I post so often that a one week silence is a very long time, since he miss my tank so much I took more pics to shut him up lor haha! JK ah Wilson The splendid was from Hellbliss's decom, he should be coming back with a nano soon Will let you know when I can frag the purple hornet, I got another frag from Hellbliss, but the skirt doesn't have the yellow trimming. Heard that purple and blue hornets are very fragile, will wait and see if it colour up and when stable enough, frag a few for you. Thanks for the compliments bro! My collection of zoas lack in variety la, don't think it is very nice yet:ThanxSmiley: Hahaha, now you tease me back la... Wait patiently... Once your baby doesn't need the play area, you can take over it and set up your new nano
  2. Wow! Yeah I was wondering what it would look like if they had kids. Love the ORA pic, almost thought it was photoshopped haha. Thanks again for the compliments. I only take simple snapshots of the tank on sunday nights when I have nothing better to do, how the pictures turn out depends on how much alcohol I consume haha. No secret la bro, but Henry is really a treasure trove of techniques and ideas, you must always pick his brains when you visit to get the most out of your purchases. It is like those kung fu masters imparting knowledge haha. Basically, you knead the 2 parts of the epoxy like how you normally would with playdoh, then roll both palms together until you get a long thin strand of "shit" haha. Fold the strand of epoxy into half, then roll again vigorously till it is thin again and fold it again. Keep repeating this for another 15 to 20 minutes. You will know that it is evenly mixed when the epoxy is warm and sticky enough to lift the purple stains off your hand.
  3. Hi bro, I got my neon goby the same week as you. It was covered with white spots and sometimes mucus as described as you for the first few days too, but it eventually went away on its own. I'm more concerned about what to feed it hahaha. It has been chasing pellets but fail to eat them cos of its small mouth.
  4. In Singapore, the last picture won't be a violent mob. They will all go home and write angry letter to Straits Times and Stomp. "This is unacceptable! How can something like this happen in Singapore? I hope the government will do something about it!" This template is always used for all complaints HAHAHAHAHA!
  5. Bro, it would help if you are a bit more descriptive or at least show clear pics of your problem. "White dots" on the tank wall is probably pods (look like tiny insects and move around), if it is hard and spiral it could be baby tube worm or some kind of shell belonging to micro organisms. White dots could be a million and one things, but I think it is safe to say it should be safe and nothing to worry about. They won't eat you
  6. BBT not borderline geek already, you got to go full nerd to appreciate the dialogue hahaha. I am ashamed to admit that I know all the inside jokes
  7. Hahaha yah it is good mindless fun, I like standalone comedies like that, good for killing time. The soundtrack, story, actors and inside jokes appeal to the borderline geek demographic like ours haha.
  8. Have to empty the tank out and seal from the inside liao, don't seal it from the outside. It ususally starts a drops and trickles, then without warning it will burst like a waterfall. Must plan for temporary housing arrangement for your corals and fishes liao.
  9. I think his stocking level is reasonable leh, relative to the tank size - in fact the fishes are all quite tiny haha.
  10. Hahaha I watched this all the time when it was on Star World. Will wait for the full series to be released on DVD before catching up on S2.
  11. Bro, the organisms (you mean bacteria?) in the live rock may be enough for now, an empty tank, but what about your future fish population? How many are you intending to keep, 5, 10? The purpose of cycling is to ensure that the bacteria population grows to such an extent that it is enouogh to support your future bio load. Market prawn is to ensure that something rots inside the tank, and can be decomposed and broken down quickly without leaving a trace of ammonia or nitrite. So, prawn is not to speed up anything, it is to kick start the process and simulate the shit that your future fish will produce. It is the bacteria that is important, think of the cycling process as a full dress rehearsal for the bio-filtration system.
  12. Yup, fish food can be substituted for market prawn. The idea is to introduce some organic material for the bacteria to break down. Bro I think some of us mentioned liao, the whole purpose of cycling is not to grow bacteria in the water, bacteria is supposed to colonise the live rocks and filter media. NSW helps speed up the process cos it has live bacteria in it while salt mix is sterile.
  13. Patience, bro. For the long term health of your reef tank it is better to cycle it properly. You did not introduce market prawn right? Without any rotting organism for the bacteria to consume and break down, of course your readings will be zero for everything. The true test of how stable your bio filtration is, is not how low your test kit reads. You need to at least introduce market prawn or fish food and see how well it is broken down, cos this same system will be responsible for breaking down your fish poo and other waste.
  14. But still no Flash. As their market share grows, Apple is becoming a big bully like Microsoft of the past 2 decades. My next PC will be running on Ubuntu
  15. Bro you mean the crack is on the glass wall itself???
  16. Next time I will name my bleached zoas "unicorn sperm" and put up for bidding lol. Relax guys, names are names... It is more enjoyable to indulge in your hobby without worrying about how "hot" your corals are
  17. Nice updates, clean and colourful! Very surprised that you manage to pull such beautiful shots from a point and shoot camera
  18. No ID then name your own lor hahaha... Essentially, all coral names are given by reefers, if you can't find your answer in any data base, claim it as your own until people tell you otherwise. The US obsession with fancy names is IMO just hyped up to give value to the zoas.
  19. Don't think so, to the best of my understanding epoxy is rigid and can be brittle under stress... silicone is flexible and less likely to crack or give way under pressure. If the leak is from a cracked glass, then cannot be helped liao. BTW, if your tank acrylic or glass? I heard of a lot of RSM tanks local and overseas cracking open after some time.
  20. Have you ID-ed the source of the leak? If it is from the tank sides or wall, then you have a problem. If the leak is from a joint, you can still empty it out and re-silicone it.
  21. Czech filmmakers try to prove how gullible people are by opening fake hypermarket and making a documentary about it. External link to trailer on Vimeo (Foul language in subtitles) Website
  22. The whole purpose of cycling the tank is to seed the live rock with bacteria. Live rocks are your bio filter media. No benefits at all to cycling an empty tank with water. Whichever LFS gave you the advice didn't do their homework.
  23. Wow, that's a really nice piece of monti! Nano tank nothing much to post leh... looking forward to your updates instead hahaha. It really looks damn good in real life YES! Now I know why I find it so familiar. The head is slightly stumpy and not as pointed as a normal ocellaris clown, but I'm lucky the black and naked clowns are both ocellaris and tolerate each other. Hopefully they have no problem pairing up.
