  1. Hey guys came across this tread on nano reefs.com. Thought i should share with everyone here. The sump looks so minimalistic. Probably can learn a thing of two if you are looking for a really clean looking set up! http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/274374-asureefs-40g-artisan/ Im guessing theres alot of hidden equipment. ie. reactors and chillers. Now i need to find a place to hide my ugly stuff =/
  2. Calcium reactor back up for sale. buyer backed out. You can replace the aquabee 1000 pump to fix the leak if running out of sump. Good price for a good CR. ups
  3. Without a doubt u need mechanical and bio filtration bro. Go with filter wool, and the bio home. For chemical filtration, I suggest just regular water changes to keep ur phosphates low. R u running a skimmer? Also, remember to give the tank time to cycle before u make any impulse buys and end up killing everything.
  4. Mix equal amounts together well till u get a uniform purple colour, don't have to use finish all Den just use like play dough to stick stuff together. Wait for it to harden. Will take a while so make sure there is support initially.
  5. Items pending collection: 2ft lighting stand, phosguard/sorb4,calcium reactor. Still availble: maxspect g2 stand, artificial corals, tune 6025,spare bottle of co2, deltec reactor. Thanks all for supporting!
  6. Co2 tank with regulator sold! calcium reactor pending collection.
  7. For those interested to see how the artificial corals look...here u go ...
  8. Hi guys have the following equipment for sale: 1. Tunze 6025. Used for 3 days only, needed a larger wavemaker - $55 2. Deltec reactor (used for 6mths) no leaks, good condition - $60 3. 2ft Lighting stand, used for my maxspect g2, but have since switched. Bought for $80, selling for $40. Can be extended if required at delightings. 4. Seachem Phosguard - $8 used only 5%. Aquapharm sorb4 about 60% - $5 5. Artificial Corals, selling as a set- $40 for 3 6. Maxspect G2 stand - $20, can be extended. 7. Deltec pf501 calcium reactor (with remaining media) - $70 (pump slightly leaking, i always used mine in sump, so no issue) 8. Spare Co2 bottle (fat black bottle from aquamarin) - $25 9. Co2 Bottle with regulator (tall blue bottle) - $50 Collection at siglap Contact 90020585, Jarrett.
  9. 1) Tank( Already had!) 2) Filter? Is Hang-On filter enough? Which type is ok? It really depends on ur tank size and what ur stocking lvl is like. Hang on filter will not be sufficient if u need high turnover or have high amount of fishes 3) Skimmer? Is it required? Get a hang on board skimmer, boyu has a cheap HOB, or can try bubble magus, skimmer is highly recommended to maintain good water quality, esp impt in marine keeping 4) Lights? Is Par38 cost high? Looking at LED light. looking at table top lights with adjustable arm. Any other brand to recommend? Cost? Again, depends on ur tank size, par38 is resonable and the full spectram ones are good enough for majority of corals, just make sure u consider how many bulbs u need to cover the area u have. alternatively, get like the cheaper azonic t5 light set and upgrade the bulbs. make sure u vary the colour of the bulbs. 5) Sump? No place for it. Any other options? if u run a canister filter (tends to build up nitrate if u dont clean it often), and a HOB skimmer, a sump will not be necessary, but obviously if u can get a sump, it will be better 6) Filter Media? Please recommend, dun wan to be high maintenance ( Can last long time ) For mechanical filter, get either a filter sock (clean regularly), or just use normal filter wool and change out when required. For biological, use coral chips or bateria housing media, ie. Bacteria king 7) Fan? Using air con in office / bedroom (Is it suitable to keep in bedroom?) Can be kept in the bedroom, air con will be the best due to high amount of evaporation which will offset ur entire water chemistry. Fan will work too, but make sure u top up with water consistantly. 8) Test Kits? Please recommend type and brand and price. Go with salifert test kits. avg price is $15 to $25 9) Wave maker? Can I use a bigger size HOF to create the flow? else can recommend? Get a small nano wavemaker, like a tunze 6025. Again, depends on tank size, HOF may be enough. 10) Live Rock? Where can I get? How much should I get? Planning to scape a centre piece with hole in the centre so that the fish can hide and swim across. Live rocks can be bought from marine fish farms. Scaping is personal, get the right shapes n sizes and do whatever u please. 11) Live Sand? Where can I get? How much should I get? Is it required as I using Live Rock? U dont really necessary require live sand, but will speed up the cycling process 12) Marine Salt? Which type is recommend? Dun understand also. Marine salt depends on what u planning to keep. Fishes only, the salt brand doesnt really matter. Personally there are a couple of better brands like red sea pro, tropic marine, DD oceanic. Also depends on ur budget 13) Others? ( Let me know what I miss out, Would wan a complete system that can be used and easy maintenance) U dont need all the fancy whistles and bells. A simple mechanical filter, skimmer, return pump, wavemaker, lightset. Other fancy stuff to consider if u have the budget. An RO/DI unit for salt mixing, a reactor for removing phospate n nitrates, a auto top off system to maintain water lvls, a dosing pump for addictives (only if u have loads of corals and dont do regular water changes), a chiller to maintain constant temp, a uv steraliser for disease prevention and maintain water quality, a magnetic scrubber. Like i said, these are only necessary if u wan the whole package. If u maintain water changes most of these aint even required. I recommand getting min a 2ft tank. any smaller it wont even please u after a while, much less the fishes. a 2ft tank cost like 50 bucks. y not?
  10. Tank sold and collected. Decided to keep the remaining livestock in a smaller tank. Thanks all for interest. Mod pls delete thread =D

  20. Hey, personally i prefer using salt mix, it really does help using DI water if you getting self mix. And yeah u more or less require to do a 10% change weekly initially. When it gets more stable, you can do smaller changes or a 1 time big change per month, like wad i usually do. That being said though, since your tank is 6ft, water should be much stable therefore allowing more room for your discretion. It mainly depends on how good your filtration system is as well, and how heavily stocked your tank is. Bigger skimmer, cleaner water. etc etc. Big Tanks require much lesser water change compared to a small tank. Simply said With regards to your question, its hard for anyone to say how much water u should change, 10% is a rough guide. But it all depends on how much crap is there. Personally, i reckon you can decide for yourself whats a good amount, as long as ur keeping up with water changes when necessary.
  21. Interesting pink cucumber, neat scape too =D
  22. Always wanted to try bare bottom, Gd luck with ur setup!
