  1. not sure about the breed but yes it's coral safe.
  2. well organized. with this height it must be tough to shift the corals at the bottom?
  3. copper is too strong for most. and to my understanding, it wont help but add stress to your tank.
  4. Initially i thought it was direct sunlight that caused overwhelmed algae growth. did some shifting to a complete no sunlight position and the situation got worst. initially was just glass and new the entire sand bed. Please advice.
  5. have never come across a DIY skimmer. thanks and nice set up.
  6. acrylic or glass, the thickness matters the most. As well as the right calculation to the water pressure.
  7. they might still getting adapt to the new water or environment. i doubt the problem lies with the food size. if they are really hungry, they will mince it themselves slowly, no matter how big it is. it they are really not eating even after you change to smaller pallet, try changing water.
  8. totally agree. the eye soothing moment makes every process worth while.
  9. Thanks bro. i cant really remember the exact name of it but something related to fan from what i heard when i buy, if i never rmb wrongly lol.
  10. bro to my understanding, the water current should be in one direction flow ie. from the inlet, to wave maker and to outlet. it should be in a clockwise manner so your water will circulate well. as for many bros here using distilled water, this really puzzled me to the rational behind it. sea salt contains all the nutrients and anti chlorine to make tap water immediately safe for reef. I've been using tap water for both my tanks hence i really wish to learn more about the need of using special water instead.
  11. you can consider additional media like coral chips and biohome.
  12. Nice tank. was wondering the amount of coral food and frequency for such tank size.
  13. Don't get too freak out when you get diff advice, and some sounds tough and too over, stopping you. all you need to do is let your new water run for 4-6 weeks. this is the only tough part as newbies tends to get itchy during this period and start adding live stocks. for those water treatment medicine where you will hear all sorts from fish shop that they tell you its essential ranging from a-z that cost at least a thousand, is all bullshit. if you are keeping just fish, bacteria will do just good. with coral, plus iodine and coral food. thats it. for water changing, i have 2 tanks. for my 6ft tank i change 20% of water once a month only. another 2ft, once every 3 weeks. some ppl will tell you big tanks change twice a week, small tanks change once a week. but all my fishes and corals are going great. all in all, its not that difficult neither you need to be a pro to do it. go for it. its not really that expensive either. the really expensive live stocks are fresh, not salt. please post a pic if you decide to set up one:)
  14. Hi Bros and Sis, Kept corals for coming to 3 months and had been using only white lights. According to some of my friends, white is more than enough, some say 8hrs white and 8hrs blue. Can anyone advice which is the best way?
  15. is it true that mixing dead with live rocks, the dead will be live eventually?
  16. Good read and advice. Many of us usually get too anxious setting up a new tank especially newbie hence tends to skip hell lots of step. Its better to be patient than doing it all over again when your tank crash after a long wait.
  17. fresh water dip will kill the fish faster. Reef safe medication is a waste of money.
