  4. Usually when I tested my ammonia is zero and Nitrate built up, I usually ignore measuring the Nitrite because I assume it will be zero too. Only check nitrite when I have ammonia spike due to something died. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Ideally a 10g tank minimum. Otherwise ammonia can be a problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. A good way is also to use fan and couple it with ATO to keep water temp at 27-28. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Hi, FW and SW is completely different ball game. To start with, both your FW filter and 6500k light cannot be used for SW. Since you going for FOWLR with minimal coral, you need a proper skimmer as a filter, you can buy a cheap and good skimmer if you have a sump, otherwise HOB skimmer such as Reef Octopus will be a good choice. For lighting, I will suggest you getting AI Prime for 30cm cube tank or some cheaper full spectrum light. Temp should be below 28deg if you keep fishes and softies, if you go LPS, temp preferably 26-27 deg. You will need chiller to support this requirement without crazy water evaporation. Try to get a cheap Hailea chilller if Budget is a constraint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ich.php Read this especially for the 3 phases of Ich. Saltwater and freshwater Ich behaves the same. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Polylab Medic is the only medicine that I know will not affect reef. Now whenever I add new fishes to the tank, I will dose it 2 times per day for continuously 7 to 14 days as a precautionary measure. It is basically H2O2 in a safe form, don't throw directly into the display tank as the fishes may eat it thinking it's food. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Be careful, no white spot may means lch went into 2nd phase. Got to monitor closely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. I quite agree with what you said, but my other experience also that when I don't remove the fish with lch, the eggs drop and reattached to other fishes and infect all the fishes. My personal best belief now is that if I got fish with lch, I will put it in isolation on second properly set up tank with FOWLR set up. Than do what you suggested in garlic. 17. Hospital tank must be bare bottom, because most medicine are not reef friendly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. You can have one tank as your main DT, and a second smaller tank to keep some coral and cuc, Frag tank or Zoa tank is a good option for second tank, as it is easy to catch the fish. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Check the sand, may have hide inside the sand bed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. For QT, it depends if you dose copper or not (can be a debate point on copper dosing as it may hurt the fishes in long term). In the case you dose copper, you must be able to measure copper content to do that, else you may accidentally overdose and kill the fish. Copper do acts as a double edged sword. In this case, no live rock or limestone rock as filter media, it should be a bare tank set up with water aeration and water change like 20% on alternate days. Remember to measure ammonia daily to play safe. Do set up a good nano skimmer for it. This set up also use for curing lch with different copper dosing amount. In the case of no copper dosing, just set up a nano tank with full nano set up. Live rocks and filter, skimmer all are okay. Let it live for 8 weeks and transfer to main tank if fish is healthy. I prefer this as fish is far lesser chance to get stress by medicine and environment. But if you see the fish got sick, change the QT to above first method. If either way, mini chiller or fans is needed to cool water, don't let water temp exceed 28 degC. Above are just my suggestion , it is not hard and fast rules. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
