  1. TIP To reduce the noise, just connect a wooden airstone to the intake hose and viola! Silence!

That is not correct. You would have to do a top-up as long as you don't have CPF contribution in the past 1 year.
  3. Please contribute your comments on good and bad points of this skimmer and also list down any tips or hints we can utilize to make this skimmer a better one. BAD I realized that the macro needlewheel isn't made of very good quality. The connecting parts for the intake and output of water seem not to be fitted tightly. Water seems to seep through the parts. BAD The skimmer is very, very noisy. Anyone can point out where to buy those air diffusers that can be connected to the air intake hose and reduce the noise? TIP You may notice that the return water hose gives out quite a bit of bubbles and thus creates salt spray. What I do is to remove the elbow for the hose so that the hose is nearer to the top of the water level. This removes any salt spray.
  4. the skimmer should give you lots of tiny bubbles. if you do not see the bubbles, then maybe your skimmer might be faulty.
  5. i weaned it for only a day and the poor fella died the next day. (i wouldn't exactly say wean anyway because my fishes have no problems switching from frozen to pellets. guess i'm lucky)
  6. I've got the 100 model and the noise is terrible. do you have a pic of the air diffusier? where can we purchase it and how much would it cost? do you attach the air diffusier to the skinny hose that lets out air?
  7. How much did you pay for it? Tks for the pic. Appreciate it.
  8. What kind of fishes do you keep? SH are very slow feeders. Usually fishes can't be kept with SH as the fishes tend to finish up the food first. SH are compatible with pipefish though. It would be best to separate your SH from your other fishes.
  9. Selling a second hand airstone skimmer with a NEW airstone and Boyu brand air pump. Take all for $15.
  10. *weee..* I just got myself a macro needlewheel skimmer today! Hehe, upgraded from an airstone skimmer to macro needlewheel.
  11. I just checked out the auto feeders. hmm.. quite expensive.. around $20 and above, and they don't look very reliable. There's even one going for $70!
  12. my other fishes ate the same pellets too, and it seem to be fine. i just went out to buy nutrafin pellets because i'm afraid the pellets i currently feed might be the cause of death. *sob* bursa was my favourite.
  13. I feed my bursa frozen food like the others, and just a day ago i weaned it to pellet food. it took the pellet readily. then today i saw it getting lartergic, and then this evening it just died. anyone know the reason why?
  14. What brand of pump do you guys suggest? Perhaps you can advise me on flowrate per hour too. Budget conscious.
  15. Thinking of getting an automatic food feeder. Are there any brands to recommend? I'm on a budget. Btw, do these auto feeders run on electricity?
  16. make a police report. if the calls still come in, assess situation to see if you would require police surveillance. in most cases, the police would be able to obtain a court order to have the relevant telcos release the telephone no. and to make investigations. most important of all, don't take this issue lightly. always ensure you have company when alone at night outside, and that includes your wife.
  17. what is the flowrate per hour of M820 and MD55? btw, what do you mean by return pump? hee..
  18. I don't think so... my trigger and puffer eats so much! They practicularly ate up my sea urchin too! now the urchin is simply an empty shell.
  19. You can buy a garlic squeezer from cold storage. it costs about $4. just squeeze it and retain the juice.
  20. I'll be out of town for 2 weeks. There won't be anyone around to feed my fishes and take care of the tank. What do you guys usually do in such a case? My fishes eat frozen food. I'm also worried about the usualy maintenance of the tank, like emptying the residue from skimmer, water top-up etc. Pls advise! Tks.
  21. I am using 7,000K bulb, 70W, and it doesn't seem to give that kind of blue effect.
