Mmmm... but the machine is able to measure the 3 kinds of phosphates which are: 1. Polyphosphates 2. Ortho-Phosphates 3. Phosphonate To my understanding inorganic phosphates consists of ortho-phosphates and polyphosphates and inorganic phosphates consists of phosphonate....... should be like that.... can't really remember...hehe WL you in lab industry too? Or you so hardcore till go read about these stuffs that I hate to learn..... haha

I can confirm for YzF that the company's lab test for water samples are done on ICP-OES machine. ICP-OES stands for Inductively Coupled Plasma - Optical Emission Spectometer. 0.01 accuracy.

If you read the title, BH is asking for reefers here to share their views. As I go through diabolus's comments, it might seem harsh to ultra-sensitive individuals if it's presented thru the forum, but ...it's nonetheless a straight true. If every word needs to be taken with a coating of sugar, you must be living in lalaland. Ever wondered the real reason why SRC is getting boring? Personally, after just barely a year here, there are too much undesired contents going on around here... here you got members that can't contain their overly enthusiatic testerone in declaring their fetish for married women.... duplicate members that slam products because of business interests..... members that outrightly display their neantherdal behaviour when it involves members of the opposite ######....members that posts unwanted information.....members that think that the ranking below the avatar is synchronous with reefering experience.....members that cannot take honest criticism.... members that are jealous of others..... members that take advantage of kind help or take things for granted... and the list goes on. If I am a marine biologist/professor/jacques cousteau with answers to all your questions/problems, I will rather go elsewhere whereby such things don't irks me. Move on if you ask me? In the first place are we in the same position as the start up of SRC? This question had been floating for a long time.... I will take this opportunity to say once and for all that if there is no one criticising on the above-mentioned antics/behaviour SRC is worst off (in terms of reefing information). Many expert local reefers knows about SRC.... but what is beneficial to them here? They are more knowledgable than most of us here, thus don't need to know basic or intermediate kinda information and certainly don't feel like showing off their precious stuffs so that members here will jam pack their pm box asking for a frag. In fact if you ask established LFS, many got regular customers for many years but know they don't come to SRC. If they really need information, foreign websites provide a sea of information as oppose to a tank of SRC.

Well I will only comment on the meetups as people got personal agenda when brands prop up. BH, I understand where you are coming from. But as a student, you may not understand how busy working adults are, especially those with families to attend to. Organising such an event that will potentially gather a couple dozens of people requires some sort of coordination, which many don't have the time nor effort. Not to mention to apply for a license from the police. In addition, I find that in the so called westies meeting, we do share valuable information regarding reefing and we do frag for each other, NOT the blue suncoral thingy, even if I come with nothing. You got a good idea, but in Singapore... hard lah. (Not living in Singapore one can STFU)

In terms of rare, I meant sighting is rare for this fish...not that it's under the endangered list or wat..... the sighting is so rare that it's hard for scientist to determine the numbers. 1. If NKF and mr durai backed out of the law suit now, who's paying for the legal fees? durai or NKF(using the $ that people donated to NKF)????? If this is the case, under normal circumstances, NKF will offer money to SPH to allow to drop the suit, if not the already pissed off judge will make NKF to pay for all the court and legal charges for all parties. Judges need to eat as well. 2. Will the court ask the rest of the board of directors to the stand oso? Since they are the ones who started the episode? Can they jus back out of it like that after creating such a big ho-ha? CEO is the biggest position of NKF. So from a legal point of view the rest of the directors are not required. But if the court needs clarification from the board's decision, directors will still be summoned. 3. Since mr durai has admitted travelling 1st class, the 2 poor guys who were sued by him should come forward and sue him back and get back wat was lost. He did say he did not travel in 1st class before 1998, after that then got.... so unless the two persons can produce evidence that Durai did travel 1st class under the entitlement of NKF before 1998, then will they stand a chance. But noting that the 2 persons had relented in the deframatory suit, the judge will take this into consideration as well. 4. Will the plumber be asked to the stand? As he was the one who made a big ho-ha tat mr durai was using a gold plated tap? He needs to despite his refusal if the court requires him to do so. The defense may wish to show that the story of the golden tap is true. But looks like it's not neccessary since Durai admitted to the intended installation of the golden tap. 5. Does NKF needs a CEO and run a "non-profit" organisation like a business company? Can the govt audit them like any ministry dept? Y cant the govt take over the organisation. People says that civil service staffs are inefficient and wastes govt or peoples' money, however i think that they can do a equally good job. I bet tat they wont be getting such a big paycheck, definately no CEOs, definately no $900 taps and definately if there is a Head of NKF(govt appointed), there wont be a personal toilet in his office. Charitable organisations are allowed to spent a stated fraction of their obtained donations on administration, salary, expenses that are deemed fit to substain the function of the entity. But since the donations and reserves are so much, NKF does have a bigger "spending" power over other smaller organisation. Government will unlikely to take over charitable organisations as this will: 1. Make people suspicious of government's usage of funds. PAP needs to remain as "clean" as possible despite Temasek holdings. 2. Laws are all in place to keep this organisations in check. 3. Better make the public pay for the less fortunate than out of government's budget when times are bad and donations lessen. Hope NKF will not sue a penniless man like me for these personal views.

most if not all the prizes from the lucky draw are given by corporate entities.... in this way they can get rebate off their taxes too... then NKF can used the marketing skills to make these items grow more "charity" money.... objectively it's a good thing.... but morally.... I disagree with their tactics. I had not been donating NKF for a few years now....since the day they told me I cannot "downgrade" my donation from $20/mnth to $10/mnth.... I simply terminate the donation once and for all.....

Sorry for posting such a boh liao thread but this thing had been literally bugging me for weeks, hope some biologist or ecologist can come out with some answers. Anyone notice that there are many those big size moths appearing frequently now? It's those 4-6" kind of black/brown/white moths. Everywhere and everyday I see a few of these moths dying or flying aimlessly. I only used to see this kind of moths rarely last time... P. tekong or more forested areas...but its starting to be spooky liao. Watch out .... there is a Mothman lurking around... But seriously, do you think it's the weather? But last year heatwave also no see this phenomena.....
