  1. Yeah i saw that pair too! The reddish orange colour is so unreal! Gorgeous! Pity they like to commit suicide ala firefishes...
  2. I meant that the price of a flame wrasse is similar to that of a blackcap, which isnt anywhere near that for a black tang, which seems really popular lately
  3. My bartletts I have gotten so far have been very bold, in fact they're one of the fishes that are still alive in my tank of low, rather 0 maintenance... Someone here once recommended to keep the sunbursts in a small enclosure in the main tank and ensure that they are active and feeding before releasing them. If all MIA, its likely you have a predator. Search the forum for some crab catching methods... *disclaimer in case kena flamed - not undermining the difficulty of any anthias species, just commenting that the bartlett is indeed the one of the better anthias to start off with
  4. Well... alright compared to other exotics like the currently raved about black tang... same price as a blackcap if i didnt remember wrongly, and in my opinion so much more worth it... hehe
  5. I think the most practical 'rare' well sorta fairy wrasse available from time to time is the Hawaiian Flame Wrasse... a true beauty, and reputably hardy too, though whenever I see them at LFSes, they always seem to be sulking in a corner on their side... eep... Has anyone seen Scott's fairy wrasses in Spore b4? Theyre apparent quite common in the states, odd that its never been sighted in LFSes...
  6. lightningstrike> Suggest you find a kind hearted buddy and see if you can ask him to pop over to your place possibly monthly to help do water changes, check parameters and health of lifestock... imagine the effect of one dead toxic sinularia... Wish i had made caretaking preperations prior leaving the country... then wouldve prevented this disaster. Maybe someone here with creative thinking and entrepreneurship can set up such a firm? Hahaz... i'll be customer no.1... But for now...
  7. From what i hear, English weather has always been sucky and sulky... ive given up on it.. Its amazing to see the locals here take out all their picnic, bbq, sports gear and frolic and bask in the sun on rare occasions where it's actually HOT, even though exams begin next week! A small digression, Tanzy, can you recommend some chinese restaurants at Leicester Squre? Which is the best for dim sum? I got ripped off a few weeks ago, they charged me 6.50 pds for Kailan! Its called Yang Cheng i think. Bah~ Cheers~
  8. Thanx guys, Yeah, i'm sure my nitrates and phosphates are way beyond. The tank was in good condition for a year before i left with no algae problems at all. It was kinda a last minute decision to leave Spore, so i wasnt able to sell off or transfer my lifestock to someone else. And i kinda wasnt expecting a disaster on such a major scale. I am so not keen to see the tank in my room when i return next month... all the hard work and $ all gone down the drain... damn depressing... eugh...
  9. I also had a pair of sunbursts which were really bold. Took all sorts of food, including flake. Died during an ich epidemic...
  10. Well... its been pouring here in Bham nearly everyday, no hail though. Lovely English 'Spring' weather and it doesnt help that the sun sets at 10pm and rises by about 4:30am. I cant even get proper rest.. bah, have 2 more years to get used to it...
  11. Dear all, ive just been told by my mom that my reef (well used to be) is now completely overgrown with hair algae, and all the corals, including lots of florida rics are now dead. I was just wondering if anyone has used rowaphos, or any phosphate remover to successfully combat hair algae, or are drastic measures ie. tearing down the tank... more practical? According to her, the flame angel, sailfin tang and the anthias are still alive so i wouldnt really want to tear the tank down unless necessary. I have 2 emerald crabs in my tank, still alive, and this kinda shows their effectiveness at hair algae removal. Pls advise... feeling kinda despondent now knowing like everything's dead and there's nothing i can do about it cos i'm studying in UK.. Thanx...
  12. I've only tried 3, and there wasnt any difficulty getting these to feed, key factor is a stress-free environment... 1. Bartlett 2. Sunburst 3. Dispar I managed to get the Bartletts and Sunbursts on flake before, wonder if they're still alive now...
  13. Does anyone know how to use a Canon Ixus... I simply cannot get sharp pictures!
  14. Hey guyz... my 2 babies... bought from RW a long time before the yuma craze, where it looked 3/4 dead. They're doing much much better now thankfully, in fact the guy on the right is the baby of the one on the left.
  15. Ah thanx thanx... deresa and maxima... the two clams I wanna try...
  16. How many Maximas left har? Wondering any left by the time I return to Spore on Thurs... =( Want to try out smaller clams first!
  17. Why not use T5? You get a lot more output for a slightly higher price, and the colouration is so much better.
  18. Dont even try it... In fact I wouldnt try any fish smaller than or looks like a dottyback after I have one that is well established in my tank. That includes Royal Grammas, Chromis, Anthias or basically anything the dottyback doesnt like.
  19. Should be fine... its marine black spot... happens to Sailfins and Nasos... Maintain good water conditions and it should go away in less than a week...
  20. I remember some article I read mentioning that its more stressful for a clown in an anemone than without... cant remember what the exact content... but point is, anemones are not essential lor...
  21. Typically... =) But then again,.. fish are just as unpredictable as humans =)
  22. specs> Specifications... water chemistry, size of tank... lighting... etc etc... well... depends on which you want to remove... but maroon clowns are very aggressive...
  23. Maroon and Fire (tomato I presume) clowns are the most incompatible types of clowns ever... bickering is almost inevitable... Remove one of them if the situation doesnt improve... no point getting the clowns sick from stress and infesting your tank with white spot...
