  1. Wah Steady man!!! I see someone making good progress eh? How about a full tank shot?
  2. Wow Joe, well done. Very impressive!!! Keep those photos coming!
  3. Hahaha bro same case with mine but they are all in my sump tank. They hatch in about 2 weeks. But I never get to see anything crawl out as by the time I see them its empty shells. I sure hope they are narc eggs. hahaha
  4. Thanks mummy! By the way can you stop spending so much on corals and equipment and increase my pocket money instead????
  5. Ok for fear of getting deep breathing heavy panting voices at night, see my edit.
  6. gosh now the whole reefing community knows I am having my exams. Yes bro what can I do for you? You can call me at Hp:xxxxxxxx (PMed you instead cos Bwilly scared me with thoughts of heavy deep breathing in the middle of the night from pervert callers.) Cheers
  7. Ok bro AT, then end Oct after Aquarama, pls help me re landscape my tank to build higher shelves, I want to keep some sps up there. hehehe Intend to keep frags and see how they go. Edwin gave me a purple tip white base with flouro green polyps to try out. But he said it was already half dead. I really dunno, can't tell if its dead or not as it was already white when I got it. But its got slight purplish tips and flourescent polyps near the tips. Its quite cool! Looks like I have to eat my "they are just ugly sticks in the water" comment. hehehe If not for the recent colours, I never knew these sticks could be so beautiful. Now I'm even trying to figure out how to upgrade my lights to 250W x 2.
  8. Hi Dan, congratulations, its a beautiful tank. However, with all the comments of light demands of sps, I just do not understand how you can maintain a purple or other coloured sps colony via T5 only. It would make AT really silly to have invested in 1600 watts of power lighting !!!! My own lights are only MH 150Wx2 with T5 54W x 2 and 30plus watt artinic, and I still do not really dare to venture into SPS cos of all the gurus' warnings. But I would really like to keep a colourful purple or luminous green colony in my tank. But I am confused as I see the results of your tank.
  9. Yes it is indeed a great pity our DIY guru cannot have more time for his hobby. I was quite disappointed when he told me he does not wish to take any more orders for the kalk reactor as he does not have the time. Hopefully we can work out something in the near future again. Cheers
  10. I would like to announce that the Kalk Reactor will no longer be produced until further notice as Alvy is too busy with his REAL work and job commitments. We apologise for any inconveniences caused. The following last few orders will be delivered soon and will be the last delivery and orders for the kalk reactor. For the rest who recently placed orders for the kalk reactor, I'm afraid it will not be available anymore until further notice. 1)Tigerkai 2)Deepblue 3)Panlee 4)Dataru 5)AT 6)Rick Please also do not pm alvy as he really has no time to make any more than these. However the Auto Top Up Box (TUBBY) will still continue to be in production and available from me. PM me for future orders of TUBBY. Thanks and best regards
  11. Sigh my second powder blue and clown tang has died last night. Only after 4 days in my tank. Seems like I cannot add anymore tangs. Now I only have a purple tang and a yellow tang in my tank.
  12. my kole tang died with symptoms like that after 2 months in my tank. My powder blue also developed the same symptoms after 1 week in my tank and eventually died on the second week too. Both were eating well, nori soaked in garlic, mysis shrimp soaked in garlic and red plankton soaked in garlic. But they developed sunken cheek bones, sunken stomach and panted heavily. Eventually just a few days before they died they stopped eating all together. My purple tang and yellow tang have no such symptoms and were bought together with the kole tang. Now 4 months in my tank already. This is a really strange disease. However their bodies were covered with gradually increasing ich, purple tang and yellow tang are now immune to it and do not have any ich at all.
  13. hahaha thanks bro. Trust you to know what it is. Luckily I thought it was a false cleaner so I placed it in my sump. But its disappeared now among the rocks. whew!
  14. Initially I thought it was a neon goby. then it looked like a false cleaner. But now, I think its not. So what is it????
  15. Tsk Tsk, poor reef poor fishes poor copepods, hardly any space left for anything to move. No wonder the poor powder blue looks like he is going to cry. Bro you really need to stop. Give away some corals. You are guilty for destroying a really really large reef population. Reef Police!!!!!
  16. Anyone interested? Price reduce to $45. Self collect. Cheers
  17. where did you buy this? Its beautiful. Not sure whether its photosynthetic but feeding sure won't kill it.
  18. A ground probe is just a simple titanium or stainless steel soldered to a copper wire and shorted to a three pin plug (earth) connected to your house mains. Use titanium if possible as it will not rust. Stainless steel will do too.
  19. Please be careful guys. Try to use a test pen to test for voltage leaks.....it will light up. Isolate by turning off all pumps then on each one till the leak is detected. Don't ignore it as it could become a more serious problem. Voltage leaks can kill fishes and corals as well as yourself of course. But weak leaks like tingling sensations can cause a disease in fishes known as lateral line disease esp prone in tangs. Always try to avoid using any 220Vac devices in the tank unless its a powerhead or pump. Try to go for reliable brands such as eheim. I think life is more valuable than a cheap made in ###### brand pump etc. And for heaven's sake, if you want to DIY something esp involving high voltage pls make sure you know what you are doing. Saving some money is not worth the risks involved.
  20. Hi Bro, long time no hear. good to hear you are upgrading to a bigger tank. Good luck to your sales! Cheers
  21. hahaha pospeh dun be so mean lah. Clowntrigger thats great. But erhm are the white parts meaning its bleaching? Can the sps experts comment? Then again if its bleaching how come its also growing so much?
  22. Hi Bro, sorry if I sounded stern in my previous posting. Just that I felt its not really fair to criticise a shop which I feel does not try to con newbies. When I was a newbie, I really felt so vulnerable and if not for this forum and my books, I would have really spent so much unnecessary $$$ buying useless stuff based on what LFS people tell me. Every shop I went would recommend me something which now I realised was not needed. When I started to learn much more, I naturally knew which shops were reliable and which were not. But basically I still go to any LFS to buy the fish or coral I want except for a few shops and farms which I have banned myself from going due to reasons I do not wish to say here. Its just that sometimes I still hear the kind of bullshit told to newbies on how to set up their aquariums and what can be safely kept together etc etc. And I do not hear these kinds of things going on in ML or PR. I am always willing to share any information or knowledge with any reefer here. And thats basically what this forum is all about. We can only truly weed out the bullshit by providing a media (this forum) for the truth to surface. Slowly, hopefully, only very very few newbies will suffer loosing $$$ to such LFS and farms. On the point of quarantine, actually I find its really not practical unless one has another tank and lots of space to spare.....not to mention alot of money. Cos a quarantine tank should have a good setup with a good system ...ie skimmer, lights etc. Eventually it will become another reef tank too. Which is what happened to my supposed 2ft quarantine tank. hehehe If a proper system is not setup for a quarantine tank, more stress is placed on the new fish and will result in even worse sickness or illness. So I really dun think this quarantine tank is practical for most reefers. One suggestion would be to leave the fish in the LFS in a reserved tank (after paying of course) for a week to monitor its condition. Henry of ML provides such a service for fishes purchased from him.
