No modification is required unless u want to delink the existing and add in yr own controller which needs good knowledge on the chiller. Understand u are on budget, hence u have to consider the price for ext thermostat in choosing yr chiller, artica good but still depends on yr luck for durability. Bro orsony is able to build one ext. Thermostat and u can diy one also if u know how and parts can get from sim lim tower. Hope this help.

I have HC130 and it is ..... Noisy!

yo bro, thanks for responding and the advise!

also thought of making a soundproof/dampering box for this ~!@#$ ... wonder it is possible.

really is not my style to get an air-con without checking the compressor noise.

when I choose my home aircon, I went to switch on every compressor at gaincity to make sure I get the quietest one!

Should not allow import of such LOW quality stuff!! ...

sigh... who call me to cheapo ... :pinch:

Hailea got the cheek to claim it is quieter... but they never mention is only when it it not kick in

once kick in it matches my washing machine!!! ~!@#$%

and the temp. senor is a bit weirdo ....

IMHO, Arctica/Daeil chiller is still the better in term of Quietness, Quality, Reliability, Effectiveness n Size  !

actually there is serious QC problem with Hailea. I recently went to a reefer's house and realised his HC-150 model was already kicking in while we were chatting. It is super quiet!!

I would say it is 80% quieter than mine. Awfully pissed and dissappointed at Hailea.

If only the bigger names can be cheaper...

Time to save up for it :)

P.S To the idiot 'Newbie' police, stay out of my post! You are very rude

the so-called strong metal they used might also be a reason of the noise

it might be too light and even when it is tighten still rattle a lot and make the noise even more unbearable

when I press on the body, the rattle noise soften and the low humming though loud but not as irritating.

as I put it beside my IOS tank... wonder will the noise affect the fishes ...

If I had read this thread then may not dive in to get the 100a and consider 150A instead....

is all too late ...sigh

if 150a is really quiet enough in the bedroom then...maybe... perhaps....

http://www.shrimpnow.com/forums/showthread.php/6989-Quietest-Chillers

Take note 150 will require bigger space and higher flowrate.

Read somewhere that 150 has a bigger chasis therefore allowing less contact between internal parts vibrating against each other.

But I did have a friend who bought 150 from previous 130 said not much differences. So it's really heng suay

Try HS28A, I heard it's better. Do some research let us know. I am curious too

seems like the hc100a display panel area is the weakest link

applying pressure on it will soften the noise and rattle

quick fix - a few heavy CD case rest in front and heavy 2inch computer book on top

more muffled sound .. more consistent

option to get $168 louvered shoe cabinet still open

:(
