Yeap:D Agreed. I wanted fiddle crabs at first but i worry they will escape so i decided to go for some hermit crabs. But i will only get them probably end of the year. The mangroves now are still young and not that efficient at removing nitrates. Btw, where can i get the blue legged hermits?

Just a caution but the TV point on top of the pond will become rusty...

Alternative,

You can buy those cover flip which fit the same size as your point at any DIY shop. That's safer and cheaper.

Best if u can fit in those hang on skimmer or tune 9002 will be better.

Cheers. Overall very interesting concept.

Thanks bro:D That is something that did not occur to me during the set up. I will go buy some anti-rust tmr to spray on the point.

No prob bro coz I had a tank abt 3-4ft away from the tv point and in 3 mths it became rusty so you wouldn't want to have difficulty taking out the. Cable when u move house or change tv

  • 1 month later...

I added more mangroves and they have developed 2-4 leaves. In a couple of weeks, they will develop their next pair of leaves.

Yeah. It was okay for about 6 months then when i left for chalet, my mum turned off the pump. When i came back, the coral was already like that. But now it should be recovering. As for the water temperature of my pond, it is constantly at 29 degrees in the day. The pond is located right beside my window which is facing west. So after 3pm everday, there will be lots of sun light shining on the mangroves. I guess the LS are adapting to the temperature well. The pond has been set up for about 4 months and so far so good. Low maintainance. No chiller. Just lights and pump. No water change also. Just topping up water and adding additives.
