Optimized water routing for skimmer, UV and FR in sump

Hi reefers,

I would like to call for some ideas for an optimized water routing to place a skimmer, UV and FR in a 3 parts sump.

This is a LPS setup for 3 ft tank.

Currently my idea is:

Compartment 1 (down flow from tank) in sump

  • inflow to skimmer
  • outflow from skimmer to UV
  • UV out to sump compartment 2

    >>> 1 x PUMP

    Compartment 2 in sump
    • inflow to FR (bio pellets)
    • outflow from FR

    >>> 1 x Pump

    Compartment 3 in sump

    [*]outflow to chiller

    >>> 1 x Pump

    Finally, chiller back to main tank.

    Total 3 pumps needed.

    Welcome feedback.

Uv best to place it going into chiller. 100% of water will go through it. The chilled water should go to the display tank. Or connect it into the plumbing from your display tank to your sump, another 100% of water flow through this line. Efficiency.

Thanks for the feedback and why the 100% in and out did not occur to me.

I prefer the idea of cleansed water back into the display tank.

I read somewhere for uv to work, need to follow the guided flow rate for uv to effectively kill the bacteria...
