i called them up and they say there's the ball type and a spring type... price is a lot of diff... juz wondering which one is more suitable for marine fish?? the spring kind sounds like it will rust....

Ball Valve = gate valve. Use to stop the water flow. Looks like a tap.

FYI, Ball valve is not Gate valve.

Ball valve is cheap whereas Gate valve is expensive. The valve used on AquaC skimmer are Gate valve. Gate valve enable precise tuning of the water flow. What you see at the top of the page is a Ball valve with blue handle from CO brand.

Actually ball valve and gate valve are two different things and they have different mechanisms to control the flow. Both can be use to stop the flow of fluid but a gate valve can control the flow rate more precisely.

My EV-240 uses 1.5" gate valve. The smaller series using smaller one.
