carfyx
Shall not blame the LFS. Bought this fish without checking it's dietary - " The Harlequin Filefish (Oxymonacanthus longirostris) is not a commonly kept reef fish because it is a corallivore with a diet consisting mainly of Acropora polyps." ( http://www.advancedaquarist.com) Price - $7 Collection - Queenstown Quote [DECOMMEND] Tank : 24" x 12" x 15" Acrylic Gex Tank Lightings : Maxspect Razor 120W , Maxspect G2 160W ( Sold )Skimmer : Red Sea PrizmDosing : Brightwell Aquatics Microbacter7, Brightwell Aquatics Biofuel, Florida Aqua Farms It's Clear, Florida Aqua Farms Coralline Stimulator. Terryz_
It can kept but lotsa time is needed for it to be trained to frozen and pellets.. But definitely need to be left to the experts.. And please read up on fishes before any impulse buy. Quote Member of:

And please read up on fishes before any impulse buy. Yup ! It's my bad , now i'm taking the responsibility. I did ask the LFS about this fish's dietary but he just say this fish will eat one. Then i ask will it nip at corals ? He answered , " all fish nip corals so it's normal . " Came back home and went to check website. BAM ! Ho Seh Liao ! So now i'm quarantine it and training it to feed while posting here to sell and hoping someone to keep it healthy at least Quote [DECOMMEND] Tank : 24" x 12" x 15" Acrylic Gex Tank Lightings : Maxspect Razor 120W , Maxspect G2 160W ( Sold )Skimmer : Red Sea PrizmDosing : Brightwell Aquatics Microbacter7, Brightwell Aquatics Biofuel, Florida Aqua Farms It's Clear, Florida Aqua Farms Coralline Stimulator. Terryz_
Something to take home, lfs are running a business, so always take what they say with a pinch of salt.. They will say good things if they wanna sell you their things.. Not many lfs will tell you the truth.. So it is best left to us to research and determine if we can keep it.. But since you got it, why not try to keep it since it is not impossible to keep it alive. Reefcentral have a long thread on it.. Have not been keeping track but I am sure they have a lot of first hand experience on orange spotted filefish rather than website by aquarist who have not kept them before.. DerrickLim
I have seen mine pecking on the sps and live rocks. Maybe it is the algae or copepods on the rock.
SRC Member solasido Posted December 20, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted December 20, 2013 Hijack a bit. From my experience, so far Iwarna is very honest and up front. When started reeding 2 years a go, i wanted to buy a brain coral. I didn't know which is a good specimen or a bad one. So, I picked a not so good one. When paying, the uncle (Philip) told me to get another one as the one I didn't look healthy. Another instance, I wanted to buy snowflake clown from FuEl. He asked my tank size first and if I had existing ones. When I told him yes, he advised that I should not buy because the existing one will kill the new additions as the tank is not big enough. Another instance, when getting quote to build a new tank from Victor. He listed very detail list and every single items required and the price. This is to be up front on the cost and prevent hidden cost. It is too often business will make you think that it is cheap initially but then come with hidden costs. But this is not the way Iwarna runs their business. Being a customer, I really commend Iwarna for being honest and up front despite they run business and need sales. It is the way to do business and gain trust and loyalty from customer. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Terryz_
Yup, there are both good and not so good lfs around.. So it up to consumer to decide.. I think he is not trying to say that you got from iwarna.. Quote Member of:
carfyx
Ok , sorry for my assumption. My apology solasido Anyway the file fish is pecking on some flakes that sank on the QT floor . Found something interesting is that , Harlequin Filefish's head rarely points upwards. Most of the time pointing downward or forward. DerrickLim
I had some red pellets which become fine powder when pressed hard. It eats a little of those too. Try keeping it. It might survive and be a nice addition to your tank.

SRC Member Snoopyhamburger Posted February 5, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted February 5, 2014 During the first 2 weeks I had him,I kept feeding the tank small amounts of food.I fed frequently though. They are grazing fishes,so they have their meals often but usually consume very little at a time.He started feeding of the water column at day 12.First day he killed all my SPS frags,so watch out if you have SPS.O_O Quote steak pls

jowenteo
I think what he meant is he is trying to share his experience with us. not saying is from iwarna. I brought my fren to a few lfs at pasir ris last week too. he almost bought jellyfish from another shop. I brought him to iwarna , although they told him the cost of the jelly fish, uncle also told him that jellyfish is meant for expert and need to have a well build tank with high flow which make my fren think twice. that's the way it should be. honest .
