Hi Guys i'm going to get a dosing pump very soon. Mainly I will be dosing KH, Mg and Calcium.

But i got no idea how i need to mix the solutions.

What type of KH, Mg and Calcium to buy?

Should I mix a more concerntrated level or the required level for the aquarium?

Using Rodi to Mix or Saltwater?

How should I adjust the dosing rate? Any Calculation method?

Anymore info is greatly appreciated.

-Imo mg is not needed, i didnt dose at all and its always in the range of 1280-1300.

-chemicals Can get from gemsurf

Kh = sodium bicarbonate

ca = Anhydrous calcium chloride

-Dihydrate calcium chloride also can , but it is less concentrated than anhydrous .

-Use rodi water to mix.

-When i mix , i mixed it in 6litre container. Going to get a 25litre container soon, so i dont have to mix again for a year.

-My mixing is :

125gram of sodium bicarbonate = 1litre of rodi.

500Gram of calcium chloride = 1 litre of rodi

1) know your daily consumption of kh and calcium . Check both parameters today , and dont dose anything. Tomorrow check again.

2) use calculator ,

For calcium : http://www.ultimatereef.net/info/calculators/cacalc.php

For kh : http://www.ultimatereef.net/info/calculators/alkcalc.php

Enter the nett vol of your tank. Try to be as exact as possible.

With the calculator , u will know how many gram u neeed to dose per day to maintain the parameters u want to set it at.

-its good to know the ratio of consumption too.

0.1Kh : 0.714ppm of calcium

Just curious, if you mix in large container to use for long period of time, how do you prevent deposit? Need to regular stirring?

I didn't shake for 1month before and I dont see any deposit.

I think will be better to juut shake a little every week.

To add on , to mix kh solution , its best to use warm rodi. What i do is put it on a big pot , turn on fire till its quite warm then i mix. This way, it helps to almost fully dissolve the sodium bicarbonate.

Or else you use room temperature rodi , it will never dissolve as well as using warm rodi

You can also use my ratio (: mine is considered a little more concentrated liao.

For the sodium bicarbonate , im not sure if it can be more concentrated as i need to use warm rodi then will dissolve properly.

Its normal, im using those drinking water container 6L in the past, no problem. Wont melt lah. now im using 20l jerry can too.

My 4ft 95% sps daily dose 63ml keep my kh rock stable at 7.504.

20L can last me 300Days.

For mg , u using mgcl or mgso4 or mixing both together ?

I juz bought from gemsurf its written as mgcl.

My mg seem to deplete very fast
