first Attempt on Marine Planted

Not sure how long this may last. Just gonna try out and see outcome.

The red plant has been with me for about 1 month and lost some due to poor maintenance. Some cyano-bacteria can be seen on it in the next picture.

First macroalgae

New algae Caulerpa Prolifera if I'm not wrong.

Will try to post a monthly update to see if it last that long. Equipments are low and cheap (trying to do simple low maintenance and energy consumption, once successful can encourage more people to join simple marine ^^)

My lobang for algae not good enough. Haha. Will slowly explore and see which one works better in this setup. Thanks for the suggestion! By the way, the first pic is diatom process, tank was pretty "new" as I added sand. It went from diatom to green and cyano-bacteria, 2nd picture was after I do a clean-up after thinking it should be more stable.

Can keep fishes like mandarin and pipefish when pods starts to populate ur planted tank.

More worry of hair algae on rock.

I have some small rocks in it but coated with HA. :/ will try when this tank works. Haha.

Previously outburst of pods. Now left amphipods and some bristle worms. But good idea on these fishes. ^^ I love them. Heh.

Tank may be nutrients rich now. Lots of hair algae and diatom. Thankfully hector's goby and algae blenny (dunno which one really worked) helped with HA control.

New growth for Caulerpa Prolifera after many parts died due to travel stress. (Melted/asexual) not very sure since its my first time going into marine plant.

New leaves appeared and in 2 days time grew to 3 times of this small size.

They are fast grower in nutrient rich and high light. actual timing less than 1 week. 1 week is only a reference.

Nope. This one aquazonic LED light. 18 watt. At times I add another 6 watt fluorescent. Algae blenny feasting. Haha. Too much hair algae actually.

its a big challenge to get rid of unwanted algae and keep the nice ones only.

Yup. Lesser light, less HA, but my prolifera suffered. More light = more HA, unsightly. Hopefully to reduce the HA through fishes.

Hector Goby, read something that they help with algae too. Saw some pecking.

Pistol Shrimp, to accompany my goby, let it dig holes and have some interesting creatures to view.

Hector goby is a nice nano fish to keep.
