Saturday weather was fair, with a light rain that lasted awhile. Surf was low, but current was very strong both on the surface and at the bottom. Viz was horrible. It was like 5m or so.. <_< ..and we didn't see much.

Sunday was better, with great weather. Water was calm, light current at the bottom. Viz was also about 5-7m.

There weren't much pictures to take, so I just practiced with my mx10 on the ever photogenic clownfish and anemone..hopefully the shots turned out nice.

I saw an emperor angel, moorish idol, a couple of giant clams (not sure whether maxima or derasa, though) and some embedded in the rock probably croceas. I took some pics of the clams, but the rest of the fish I didn't bother to take cos I was quite far, and the viz was that bad, so I didn't want to waste the film.

The highlight of the dive was a cute little yellow boxfish..but he wasn't very cooperative so I couldn't take a pic of the little fella. :(

Saw a seasnake too, but that was about it lor...4 and a half dives...and that's all that I saw. The guys who went for the night dive said they saw more, but oh well...I missed that... :erm:

and now, on to MANADO this saturday. :P

oh, if my pictures for the clowns turn out nice I'll post them, if they're rubbish (which they probably are, then you're not missing anything haha.. :P )

When I was in Dayang 27-29 Feb. The Viz was fantastic. It was 15-20m.

I really like the white seabed around Dayang wreck.. Very bright, Very open and very deep (30m+)! Can see school of selar kuning fish.

Great to be there.

Lona;

Apologise for the lousy visibility over the weekend. But I am sure you will have a better experience in Manado.

Personally, I think the best way to dive Tioman is Liveonboard. Only then, you will be able to cover the better dive sites.

I can personally recommend you a few good dive sites, even better than some in Thailand.

Orpheus,

Don't be ridiculous! Apologizing for the weather?

If you're the Big Man up there, I would asked for Singapore waters to be crystal clear first! :lol:

You are not, I repeat, NOT responsible for lousy weather!

However, I am sure you can do something about the Perhentian coach aircon!!! :lol:

:shock::shock::shock:

ya man...please don't apologise for the weather lar! this kind of thing how to control one...I was already worried even before we went up, remember? there were already many many reports that the vis and surf would be lousy around the area.

It had been raining the whole darned week. I think we were very lucky that the surf wasn't too bad liao.. :D ...otherwise it'd be :sick:

Some more we were with all the other students, I'm the only leisure, can't expect them to suit me mah, right? I can dive the sites, also doesn't mean that they can, right? Forget about it lar, ok? :peace:

we did talk about the LOB that day, so that will probably be one of the things on my list, but like I say lar, probably won't be so soon...heehee...I want to go back to perhentian. :heh:

Actually I'm rather worried about manado too, I have two friends who went there separately over two weeks, and both of them say the viz also quite bad..so..I'm really praying hard.. :rolleyes:

hehe went to Dayang and Aur many many years back during Poly time (once to Aur and once to Dayang)....was wondering if it is very commercialise??!!! :huh:

I must say it is a very very nice place even though the bum boat ride was a disasterous one! I dont dive but even the snokerling was real fun! I hope I can go back again. We even spotted dolphin on the way back to Mersing..... :lol:

Was wondering how is the boat ride nowadays......it was like almost impossible....or should I say troublesome and unsafe for a lady to take the bum boat ride to these island many years back...... <_<

Was contemplating to bring my Mdm there in April or rendang or langkawi or even just Tioman.....so many nice place to go for snokerling..... :lol:

Just got back from Tioman too.

Tho viz was quite dissapointing, its a long time since my last dive (last year oct), so it was still refreshing to get back into the water for a change.

Saw nudibranches, resident giant garoupas at Soyak, murray eels on nite dives, 1seaturtle, a giant coral squid, and a couple bluespotted rays. Wasnt as lucky as Ilona, only got to see six bar angels, and not the emperor. oh.. saw a panther grouper that was quite big as well, slightly more than 1 feet.

Enjoyed the strong current tho. get to drift drift abit.. more relaxing bah..

Overall, will recommend fellow divers to probably sit out another week or so for the sun to really come out, current to slow abit, to hopefully improve viz and provide better phototaking opportunities.

HAppy diving!

I think they are going for LOB if i'm not wrong... might see them at the dive site or underwater, that is if we can recognise them behind the masks.. hehehe..
