SRC Member longipods Posted April 19, 2019 SRC Member Share Posted April 19, 2019 Hi all, I’ve read online that due to the feeding habits of angelfishes, some angelfish should be added before others. Hence, I started with a regal, then a majestic, then a blue-faced. What should be the next fish to consider? SRC Member soggycookies Posted April 19, 2019 SRC Member Share Posted April 19, 2019 You should probably add Angelfish of the genus holacanthus and Pomacanthus last as these tend to be the more aggressive ones. Especially if you’re adding larger specimens. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

For example, if I were to add an emperor, then are there some angels that I cannot add subsequently? Or not much difference?Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Large angels will eventually pick fights with each other no matter what order you add them in if your system isn’t large enough. Very much like tangs I’d saySent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
Solo77
Some angels are less aggressive and hence should introduce first. Example, majestic, regal etc. Once succeed in keeping them together, the future agression like fighting etc will be your tank size and luck. Some angels are nemesis to each other and known to fight after keeping for 1 to 2 yrs. However, there are successful cases. Do you study and plan. Lastly, QT very important if you want to keep big angels, as 1 infected one can wipe out your whole tank. SRC Member sklego Posted April 21, 2019 SRC Member Share Posted April 21, 2019 Genus, size, landscaping (hiding places) and other factors. i currently have Earspot, king, koran and french + yellow tang n american whitespotted filefish in my 5ft. Angels introduced in stated sequence n all fishes between 6-8 inches. What i found useful is that yellow tang n the filefish are able to hold its own and help to distract king angel's aggression. But the listed angels also tend to be the hardier ones. I did not quarantine but used partition for new fishes to acclimate.
