terryansimon
why do you use a solution to reduce NO2 when it should be done naturally via liverocks?

SRC Member Domino Posted June 9, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted June 9, 2004 Yeah, NH3 & NO2 must be dealt with naturally and is is usually easy with a lot of live rock. You should not be using nutrafin cycle in a running tank... If you get NH3 & NO2 readings it can be due to a number of things (new tank, many LS died and decayed recently, not enough LR...) it might even be due to your test kits showing wrong results... The NO3 is the problematic one as the bacteria needed to process it needs anaerobic conditions (deep in the rock or the the sand bed...) or must be removed through plants.
