Just can't wait to fire it up

Ask you guys a question, can I plumb the outlet using PVC pipes and make an inverted U shape? Cause i noticed that the height of my sump is higher than the main reaction chamber, its even higher than the skimmer itself!!! :eyebrow:

Suggest you raise it until your base is higher than the top of your sump.

What pump you running? When I did mine with inverted U, with the base sitting on the ground, my MD55 is too strong and it overflow from the collection cup. So since I'm raising, I raised it above my sump top, just to be safe. But I've seen some sitting on the ground. Well it didn't work for me. Just make sure your sump can take the water flowing out of the skimmer in the event of a power trip

I'm gonna use a MD40 to run the skimmer

My sump should be able to handle the water in an event of a power trip :eyebrow:

Any other suggestions?

The height of your U-pipe (which is at the top of your sump) cannot be higher than the 'desired' water-level of the main chamber. Else, the water level in the main chamber will be maintain at the height of the U-pipe.

you can test it by open the outlet valve at maximum, and off the air-inlet....and see how the water flow.

hope u understand what I meant...else sure flood! :P

So you suggest I place the skimmer on a sort of stand?

Something apparently clogged up and one of the compartments of my sump start overflowing water!!!

Luckily i was around or else can't imagine what will happen

Still have not fired up the Beckett though, got trouble getting 1 1/2 inch PVC fittings and the hose that can fit into the MD40 outlet (LFS only have small ones) :(

Now I only can have 2 choices to the next equipment I need to buy:

1) Lighting (inc. refugium lights)

2) Tunze 6060

If let you guys prioratise, which one will you buy first considering I got no corals yet

Think lighting would be the better option?
