Best method to entice AT to eat?

Hi all,

Need some help to entice the AT to eat.

He is in my tank for 2 days swimming around, pecking at rocks, trying to get him to eat.

So far i have tried frozen shrimp, Ocean nutrition flakes, GP, Nori

Prob going to get some live brine, red algea, and also the OSI flakes.

Any recommendations?

Try Nori first Cut into small bite sides (2x2mm that type) then flood the tank with it.

Red algae also not bad but must keep going to LFS.

Dont worry problem. I encountered the same thing when I initially got my AT. I throw in everything also dont eat. I just end up polluting my tank.

On the four days, it just started eating pellets. From then on, everything thing also eat. Unfortunately, it has returned to its maker.

Gosh, that must had been irritating....

Feel sorry for your loss.

Ill try the nori thing, so far i didnt cut it into small strips, i just attach one long strip on a clip

May I know, did you guys quaratine the AT before intro to main tank? Will it be able to fare for itself if there are other resident tangs if intro direct to main tank?

I did put him in a container for 2 days, couldnt stand seeing him resticted....then let him out.

Bought him cos he is twice the size of my powder brown.... so far no prob

try cyclopeeze, lots of fish can't resist the temptation of cyclopeeze...

AT is ich magnet. When you see 1 or 2 white spot on its body, you would better start doubling the dosage of your garlic while it is still eating.

When there are too much ich, the AT will stop eating and starved itself to death.

AT is quite fierce, I dont it will have any problem with other tank. However, I still think it is better to QT it. Just in case, it gets ich, you can still give it medication.

General sentiment is dat it will do best in a rather large mature tank with very stable good parameters and high flow since the fish comes from the surge zones in a reef.

1yr old tank, md 55 return, with 1 tunze 6060....would that be enough flow?

was thinking of adding another tunze.

How big is your tank? Water parameters good and stable?

Im talking from my little experience with the species (and lost 1 AT recently to ICH/stress/dunno the real reason)

Saw the AT at CF on Mon not doing well, think catching/caught Ich/Velvet. Only the piece that is sold is still doing very well. The other 2 not so good.

dun know if owner paid full already? Guess that he made the right selection. Maybe the AT is for the owner whose tank is a swimming pool size with basement viewing. One that I told you about.....

Think better get smaller one for your tank. The tank in CF which it is swimming is also 6 ft? Can see it flap twice its fins and reach other end already and its swimming round and round.....

so back to topic.. djarth, How big is your tank? Water parameters good and stable?

Its 5.5 by 2.5 by 2.5... perimeters are ok, pretty stable....all the livestock and corals doing ok.

Bought cyclopleez and the OSI sprinula thing to get the AT to eat, maybe ill try live brine tom.

So did you pick up ur AT from CF?

Oh yah, so which Alfa do u drive? thinking of getting the 147

Driving the Alfa 156 cloverleaf edition. very nice car IMHO and seem to see more alfas on the road nowadays..

The 147 is very very cool. planning to get the GTA?

So how? did the AT ate the spirulina flakes? maybe you can soaked it in garlic to further entice the fish

Clover leaf is the V6 one? My family have been into Alfas for quite awhile....think we are mad over alfas...currently have the V6 one at home, personally driving a jeep....

Anyway prob just get the 1.6 one, GTA too tempting (out of my buget also), got my license suspended for speeding before

Huh huh huh, my AT havent touched anything yet, flooded my tank with so much food today!!!!

Ocean planet has some really nice ATs, problem is u will have to get them to eat i guess.

my AT only feeds on red bamboo algae..

2 weeks already..and it doesnt touch pellets, ML's food or cyclopeeze..

it only swims near the food then swim away...

Got him to eat!!!!

Taking the advice of Weilong, i cut strips of Nori soaked with garlic, he ate a bit......after that approx 1hr, i tried OSI flakes....worked like a charm

Then i dumped OSI mixed with Formula one...now he eating like a pig....whew....

Prob have to change water tommorrow, so much food dumped in to entice him

Right now he got quite a bit of whitespots, keeping my fingers crossed
