how to raise KH

hi reefers . how can i raise KH, have been testing it. remaining only at 6dKH.

i recommend aquaz one...dissolves much better than seachem

think its total hardness consisting of Ca CO3 and bicarbonates...can't remember correctly

another one is purely co3 hardness

only way is to dose. BTW, wat will happen if KH too low.

If KH is too low, calcification rates will decrease drastically

Anyway, if I'm not wrong, Alkalinity is actually the measure of how much acid is needed to neutralize the hydroxide ions in the water. And the test you do using the test kit is actually a simple titration

i recommend kent marine supperbuffer-dkh, powder form. it dissolve in plain water with no residue behind. bought 1 big bottle used for closed to 1 year have not finish using.

seachem buffer has white powder after stirring based past experience.

I use food grade baking soda(sodium bicarbonate), cheap and good. So far so good.

I just mix around 1-2 tablespoon with around 2litres of water, raises kH by approximately 1degree in my tank(Volume about 500-550litres). After which, i just pour the solution into a high flow area(In my case, i pour it at the sump return pipe and into the main stream of the Tunze) in the tank.

I use Seachem, I think it's good. Don't forget, Ph might be affected too if dosing wrongly. Rite Bros?
