Anyone put Bioballs in their overflow box?

i am thinking of putting bioballs inside the overflow box and have a filter on the opening of the overflow box to filter the dirt.

Used to put them in there a long time ago to reduce the water crashing sound from the overflow.

But I found that it contributed to a higher nitrate level and also became clogged with detritus over time.

Now I just use a Durso standpipe in my overflow chamber.

I have a compartment full of bio balls. Never have problem with nitrate.(8 months already). I did put a couple of layers of filter wool to catch any debri. Find that they are really useful. Opinion from my shallow experience....... Anyway my tank is filled with almost 9 tangs

Too many different thoughts.

there are ppl telling me to put Bioballs into the overflow box.

and Coral Chips into sump tank? :nuke:

now... i am confused

the design of my cabinet make it hard for me to move the sump tank..

and the sump tank wif water is heavy
