hmz... okie... it works sumthing like tis... its a more natural thingie for filteration... er... kinda disolves sum stuff when the water runs thru it.... supposingly good for the water... my dad's koi pond... the filter system... full of coral bits and shells... kinda tempted to steal some for my own tank... but difficult siaz...

Why don't use bio-balls. Aqua Techique also using the same system and they are doing fine.

Not wrong to use bio balls but u may need to have lots of water changes to rid of NO3 ....

As bio balls would convert NO2 to NO3 and that where the cycle ends .. Thus if u use bio ball u got only too handle the NO3 and only way is to do water changes ..
