After being very satisfied with the performance of my Deltec AP850 running on my 4ft reef tank, I decided to order it's younger brother the APF600.

This is the 3rd smallest skimmer on the deltec's line of external skimmers.

I received it from EAN on 18th Feb, a little lazy so only set it up today. I decided to do a review for the benefit of other reefers who might be keen in this skimmer.

Specification:

Heavy Stocking 750 Ltrs (167gals)

Normal Stocking 1000 Ltrs (222 gals)

Water Throughput:

800 Ltr./ h (178 gall/h)

Dimensions:

L: 280mm W: 210mm H: 600mm

Bioload currently consist of 4 2-3" fishes.

Here's where I set the water level (see red arrow) with the needlewheel pump off. Will readjust slightly after breaking in.

Air valve is set to 1 O'clock position.

You can see the flange which makes cleaning the collection cup so easy, just twist and turn. No messy nuts to remove and re-tighten after that.

The APF600 runs off the AquaBee 2000/i with modified needlewheel impeller which draws 38W. As it is an out-of-sump skimmer, a separate feed pump is required.

See the milky chamber caused by the high bubble density, no photographic tricks or deliberate overexposure :P WYSIWYG

Still breaking in, running for less than 1 hr but can see some slight brownish stuffs foaming :P

Riot: can't really tell the size of the bubbles visually as the whole chamber is milky. I just tune the air valve down a little since it is still breaking in. Probably will be running it fully open once it is fully broken in.

With my experience with the AP850, this APF600 is really easy to tune. Don't even need to read the instructions.

Will post more comments and photos as the skimmer breaks in.

weileong, how come the neck not curved one huh??

The neck is curved but only on the interior side so when view externally it looks flat.

The neck is fairly large when compared to the dia of the main chamber as this APF600 uses the same collection cup as the AP850..

This skimmer going for $800+ w/o installation kit.

The APF-600 is a superb skimmer.

It is much better than many of the competition that I tested.

Your prices is S'pore are very good as well.

1.2K for AP-850 and 800 for APF-600 are very low prices compare to Europe and America.

Must be that your importer mark up low, and you have only 3%GST.
