Blue Tang Not Feeding...

Hi, just buy a blue tang and it had not been eating since. I tried to feed it with flakes but it just hide underneadth the rocks. Pls advice.....

Hey flake is not natural food for the blue tang thus it need to take a while to get adjusted to it or maybe you will even need to train it to eat........... Anyway start to coax it to eat with frozen food suh as brine shrimp........

Wait for a few dayz. If still not eating, bring a fish trap n u can have mine.

Just make sure you dont prod the blue tang to get it out from under the rocks... leave them there, and they will usually rally round in a few days and will be eating like pigs.

Brought one BT back last Sat and it was extremely sly and hiding for the next 2 days. Now, it's sharing lecttuce leaves with the Yellow Tang, though not yet eating pallets and other stuffs which the YT eats.

yeah so in conclusion, just leave the BT for few days, let it get used to the tank first then slowly try to get it to eat, should have no problem one

Try using blanched lettuce...

The blue tang may even lie on its side for a day or so. No panicking unless u dont see it breathing haha. Leave it alone & if possible lights out as well. Once it settles down then try n feed it some frozen brine shrimp or nori.

Mine takes pallet food. I just break up the plankton tab and dump it into the tank. My BT attacks it like it hasn't eaten in days. Started feeding the next day after I brought it home.

Yes, my blue tang is very shy. Its doesnt even want to get out of the rocks. Just afraid that it will starve to death.

Try not to put then in the container as this will stress the tang more

Don't worry, why don't you start tempting it with frozen shrimp first to get it to eat

tried nori yet? they are quite good for tangs......you can also dip it in garlic juice later to prevent or control the ich problem the BT are famous at............

check product review forum for an idea. its dried seaweed for human consumption. can get frm NTUC. make sure no seasoning or what. get the one packaged to cook. not to open and eat as a snack

Guess what??? My tang starts to eat already! After she had settled herself in the tank, she eats like a pig!
