oolite
I have 2 sets of 6-fans each on a day rotating shift on my 4 footer. Each is attached with its own timer and they are switched off in the night. They cool my water temp lower by between 1-2 degrees. As for the noise, if your house is quiet like mine, there will definitely be a noticeable hum. For my case, the noise from just 1 fan is kind of irritating already as I am use to living in a peaceful and quiet environment.

I think cost price of their fans prob less than $15?? they're actually good and worth the money with little noise as possible and one things for sure is that they don't give you an electric shock when it touches water! I have 2 - 6 row fans operating on my 4 footer which keeps my water really cool.

SRC Member hoppinghippos Posted September 15, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 15, 2003 Dazza you can try Diy-ing yourself, its really very simply to make, just go SLT, buy fans, buy adapator (make sure adaptor has at least 200-300mA more than the total load you intend to have), buy jack (those for the adaptor to plug into, like when you recharge your handphone, the jack on your phone), buy wires (I personally like to buy those computer ribbon wires cuz they are compact and stuck together already), cable ties, and plus some acrylic from hardware shops and you're all set!! total cost of 2 fans set will prob be <$
marlin
Pinnacle, You sure you are able to get 25.5C or even 26 from fans? The best I can get with fans alone, is 28C. The 6-fan I have is effective especially when I have got MH lights. You can feel the hot air being extracted out. Managed to get the lights for $70 at P**M*** in Serangoon North. SRC Member dradttg Posted September 16, 2003 SRC Member Share Posted September 16, 2003 I am using the 2 fan type from Ocean Free. Cost $55. It is noisy initially. Now it is either I am deaf or the fan have became more quiet. The water temp used to be 30 now it stayed around 28. I think how much temp it drop is also dependent on the position of the fan. I should put it near the Powerhead.
