SRC Member LiveRock Posted August 23, 2005 Author SRC Member Share Posted August 23, 2005 Hi I have PMed most of you. Here are some FAQs: (1) What is the purpose of moonstrip? Well, as I have mentioned, (i) you can watch your tank at night w/o disturbance to your animals. (ii) Less harsh transit from bright day to total darkness when you switch off your main lights at night. Creating a more natural environment at night. (iii) Moonlight suppose help to spawn corals and other night activities. (2) Does it consume a lot of power? No, it uses LEDs with minimal current consumption and yet produces bright light. (3) Any hidden costs for moonstrip? No, the moonstrip comes with its own power adaptor, ready to install and run. What you need is some double-sided tape or 2 hooks to hang off or stick at the side of the tank. (4) Why blue? This is because when light reaches to the corals at the bottom of the sea/ocean, most of the other colour (of other wavelengths) have already been absorbed by the medium (sea water, particles, etc.) Only blue reaches the bottom. (5) Does it produces 'ripple' effects? Yes, individual LEDs are miniature 'spot' lights that cast shadows and highlights. (6) Is it water-proof? Moonstrip is sealed by silicon/hot glue at both ends to prevent water from getting in. However, please do not submerge moonlight in the water! (7) How long does it take to make one? The process of preparing the circult board, soldering the components, wiring, sealing, procuring components, testing, etc. can be quite tedious. That is why I batch all the orders together. It may take me 1 -2 weeks to fullfill orders. Hope I have answer most of your questions! Thanks for your support. Please continue to PM or post your questions should you have any.
