Read from some web page stating that this type of worm may cause irritating stink to our hand if we use our bare hand to catch it but leaving it in the tank may also hurt some slow moving fishes & inverterbrate.

Please advise?

  • 1 month later...

My uncle's fingers got bitten on separate ocassions when he arranged his liverocks. The stings were very painful and left him with swollen fingers for a couple of days. The swelling is quite disgusting as your fingers bloat up. It is very itchy but you'll feel the itch inside your finger, so you are pretty helpless; you can't scratch the inside to sooth the itch!

Use gloves or a tweezeror a thong (I don't mean the underwear :P!)

The worms hunted all his snails (caught in the act!) and are said to harm anemones and corals when they are hungry.

Good luck!

It grow about double the size but still unable to catch hold of him. Try to use a plastic tong but it move very fast by retreating back to the life rock. Any suggestion to catch hold of it?

You might want to check out AT's pet fireworm (or something like that)

Leave them alone lah, it doesn't does any harm but good for tank one.

That's because you haven't encounter them chewing on your snails, anemones and corals. When it happens to your tank I wonder if you still think they are harmless.

What about when you are rearranging your rock work and they bite your fingers, leaving you with a sharp pain, causing the fingers to swell up for days, ... Would that be "harmless but good" too?

Well, I guess different people have different views on bristleworms then. :)
