If you have bigger fishes then the wrasses may have been shocked and thus jumped out of the tank. My yellow and green wrasses in the past commited suicide because they got shocked by my bigger fishes, which weren't aggressive towards them.

fishes tends to hid....espeically if its a few hours don't have to panic....turn rocks all over to look for them might be more decrimental, just look around your tank area to see if any has jumped out.....

I had fishes that hids for months before coming out....let them take time la....

Yes, don't worry, one of the key behaviour characteristics of wrasses is that they tend to bury themselves in the sand... every night (to sleep, in which case they'll come out the next morning), and also whenever they feel threatened.

However, if your wrasse stays buried in the sand for too long (eg. days), it means it is ill.

Oh, and another thing... in my experience, wrasses that are about to die will invariably emerge from the sand before dying on the sand bed. So if you do not see your wrasses at all, it is highly unlikely that they have died, unless of course they jumped out of the tank.

IMO, we can prevent wrasse being hiding inside the sand. Each fish have their behavior. When they behavior is change, sure there have some effect on them.

a healhty wrasse will come out during day time/lunch time/wrasse own leisure time and will be back into the sand during nite time....

about food, i think u better feed on small size pellet and cyclopzee....

my 2 cents........

Unlikely that they have starved to death... More likely that they are already 'beat' when you bought them, due to rough handling on the part of the LFS and the wholesaler.

I always have the same problem with coris wrasses... they are very delicate. They appear healthy the first few days in the tank, but all die invariably within a week. Never have problems with other fishes.

That's why it's always good to observe the fish in the LFS's tank for a few days before buying... the 'beat' specimens will generally not last more than 1 week.
