How do i dose the reef? can i add all these together? or alternate days? Do i add to a container then drip down the water away from the corals or at the back filter? I need to off my protein skimmer for 1hr after i dose right?

SRC Member Reefaholic Posted November 28, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 28, 2007 Calcium and Magnesium will get your coraline algae growing. With good kH buffer an added advantage. With actinic blue lights will even boost the growth rate. Also pls be patience. In no time you will see them as nuisance.

SRC Member Ketchup Posted November 29, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted November 29, 2007 these algae are those thats purplish in colour right? It was growing rampantly after we change our light to white+artinic blue. whats the use of the algae? So recently, i introduced a tomini tang which essentially eats up most of it.. wonder
IMO, if your PO4 is high. Coralline Algae will not grow much even if you have all the parameters right. Control your Po4 and you will hate Coralline aglae after that cause they really suck Kh fast. Rowaphos (my trusted way of controlling Po4) My suggestion is always to make sure that Mg is above 1280. Next, control your Ca and Kh. Hope this helps <quote from Randy's article> If allowed to rise above natural levels, phosphate can cause two undesirable results. One is inhibition of calcification. That is, it can reduce the rate at which corals and coralline algae can build calcium carbonate skeletons, potentially stunting their growth.
