SRC Member peacemaker Posted October 16, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted October 16, 2008 Just remember that reef keeping ISN'T a game! Once you've decided to get that said livestock, you should be responsible to make sure that its "home" (your tank) is suitable for it to live in, even BEFORE you buy it. Reef on, responsibly. I do not know what caused the tank crash, but these rocks take in all the crap. It is only reasonable to let it complete the ANN cycle again for stability. I'm sure you do not want to risk another tank crash, no? Why don't you remove all that stuff on the background since you're at the restarting stage? I don't know about you, but I like my tank to be as clean as possible. It doesn't look anything like coraline algae, so I don't see a purpose in keeping them. Just my opinion. sphinx
Latest readings Amm : 0.25ppm(every time the same) Nitrate : 10 ppm(Fluctuating between 20ppm to 10ppm) Nitrite : Yet to be tested pH : 8.0 (wth) 1. you must wait for Amm to reach zero 2. Once Amm reach zero, you must wait for Nitrite to reach Zero(please note Amm just reach zero means nitrite will be high, meaning no fish can survive in there too) 3. Once Nitrite reach zero..... perform 50% water change. 4. Than try to add fish(note not fishes) slowly, if not the whole ANN cycle will go busted again. SRC Member Underwater Posted October 20, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted October 20, 2008 l would suggest investing on some good carbon and sea salt at this stage first, then you go for these good-to-have stuff.
SRC Member angelfishlover Posted October 20, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted October 20, 2008 Your good shop there got sell Marine Environment salt and Coral marine salt. But i suggest Marine environment salt cause i tried coral marine and it's not worthh it cause the calcium level is damn low.Get the big packet Marine Environment slat so that you can make water change easily without thinking of the salt running out. SRC Member angelfishlover Posted October 20, 2008 SRC Member Share Posted October 20, 2008 Yeah.Corals are vanishing at a rapid pace.So do consider and read up before buying any corals or fish.Tell you what.Get those damsels or clownfish first.Pajama cardinals are good too. Then stock up on begginer corals and don't dose the part A stuffs first cause with sufficient water change using good salt mix e.g. Marine Environment it will maintain you calcium or other elements.Never ever rush to get the corals lets say a nice acro on sale is nice.Don't buy on impulse.Read up first before trying. Hope you will follow the advices me and other bros typed.
