Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 21, 2011 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 21, 2011 Not wassi. Tw forked tail should make identification very easy now that there's a distinct feature.
Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 21, 2011 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 21, 2011 actually the finnage and dead colouration looks abit like a full grown pseudoplesiops wassi. but the tail looks a bit diff,

FuEl
Ok now with a better pic i can go and search wat it is. The body shape and tail is v different from wassi and elongatus. Was the body this red before it died? Cos u told me it's bluish grey but from the pic of the dead fish it looks reddish grey. Think yesterday it was stress coloration with all the whitespots infecting it. Only when it was dead did the natural color emerge. Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 21, 2011 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 21, 2011 could your dottyback be this? Pseudochromis moorei i dont think so but the tail is quite similar. P. moorei is a very big dottyback. like P. steenei.

Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 23, 2011 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 23, 2011 Chaetodon dolosus is common in africa. but because of it's dull lack luster colouration, it is seldom imported.
Senior Reefer yikai Posted January 23, 2011 Senior Reefer Share Posted January 23, 2011 here are three african butterflies that look very similar. Chaetodon hoefleri Chaetodon marleyi Chaetodon robustus out of the three, robustus is the most commonly offered african butterfly. hoefleri and marleyi are very rare and super expensive. Digiman
OMG, I like this... If u like look out for east african shipment. They are rare but has appeared before. The last one tat came in was from CF east african shipment. That same shipment u and Jon bought the flameback angels. It was stuck at the corner of the back tanks, nobody buy becos it was injured and was breaking down and it died shortly after. Before tat i believe LCK brought in before also. It is not an expensive fish.

Digiman
It is every reefer's dream to replicate a schooling group of fish in our home tank. But sadly v few fishes school in a small confine environment. The best options being leptacanthus cardinals and parvulus cardinals. And for the nano tank, aioliops megastigma. However for the Japanese they are v lucky, they are able to get another great schooling fish for the aquarium, Rhabdamia Gracilis (Luminous cardinal fish). The fish is also found in Fiji, but is never exported from there. Japanese get the fish from their own waters.
