wad do u mean by tower? using eggcrates? n wad media do u recommend?

tower. not egg crates. its like a glass extention sticking out with addition glass panes that are inside to hold egg crates. check out my sump. you'll know what I mean.

bro.. yours is abt the same as my sump for the 4ft... you can take a look at it if you want... to put a DSB... well too small i think... and also.. your water flow is top in and bottom out... dunno how effective it would be... if you have a DSB in your main tank then might as well just leave the middle section for your PS lor..

top in bottom out cannot have DSB isit? can link ur sump here pls?

the purpose of a DSB is not to let water flow thru... smt like a refugium? where usually the DSB is in...

if u cannot have it in your sump tank.. have it in your tank..

You can't put a DSB in your middle section as the baffles mean that water has to flow thru the sandbed... so whether you put coral chips or #0 sand, they will end up trapping detritus and because well oxygenated water's gonna be flowing thru, it cannot become a denitrification zone.

You have to let water flow OVER a DSB and NOT thru it for it to work... anyway.... DSBs/refugiums should be sized equal or bigger to the surface area of the tank for them to have significant results... but mini DSB/refugiums are better than nothing.
