nice rock work, your seio wavemaker seems a bit precarious le, haha :peace:

thanks :) still need to epoxy some rocks together to get the final product..

ive used salt mix for my water as i didnt have the time to head to lfs to get nsw..

thats why im turning the main tank into a washing machine for now..

full blast of my nano wavebox and add a seio 1100 in it for the time being..

ill remove the seio once the salt have been dissolved..

for the wavebox, im VERY tempted to replace it with a Vortech MP10..

bad stuff have had to happen!

my rather trusty Resun chiller had to breakdown the day after i setup the tank.,,

a burning smell woke me up and i noticed that the temperature was absurdly high at 31deg and the chiller didnt cut....

i opened up the case and felt this thingie in the picture below

post-4601-12774858389426_thumb.jpg

it was really hot.. cant place my hand on it for more than 3sec..

i guess its time for it to be replaced....

not gonna send it for servicing as i rather use the money to invest in a better powered chiller...

anyway on a side note..

my rocks turned white and i think there is a massive dying of beneficial stuff that has been in my tank...

might need to wait for another week before i risk putting anything in..

i have left my few corals in a washing tub with just a powerhead.. hope they can pull through the week.....

My Resun CL650 exploded in the dead of the night, which woke me up. All the refrigerant escaped and the floor was oily and sticky. Luckily for me, just received my 13th month bonus and was able to upgrade to a compressor chiller. It happened about 2 years ago. I know the anxiety you feel, I lost a few lps but after the upgrade, I do not worry too much on temperature.

 it exploded!?.

Resun chiller like no QC like that..

haha.. but what to do, pay peanuts, we get monkey..

anyway, as my tank is in my room, i cant imagine what will happen to me if it happened while i was sleeping..

well.. i have limited sump area which does not leave me much room to play around with equipment..

right now im sourcing for secondhand cl 650s..

:)

Yep, no joke. Even the technician guy who came to see the chiller says that the copper tube was separated from where it was connected. It was his 1st time seeing the result of the exploded chiller. The container holding the refrigerant was totally empty. The chiller cover was sticky and oily.

chiller matter solved!

upgraded my chiller to a resun cl650 with an external temperature probe.

hands starting to get itchy again :pirate:

saw this skimmer on a website..

going for about 3blue notes..

Brand is Aqua Excel (china)

aemini2.jpg

the thing about this skimmer is the size of it that attracts me.

the video looks promising too

(NOTE: I'm not advertising for the website, just happen that i browse their web often  )

should i invest!? :chair:

not that my current deltec skimmer isnt good.

but my sump design makes it hard to maintain the deltec mc skimmer as it is hard to access the waste container when clearing..

hmm decisions decisionssss

3/6/2010

-added two true percula from cf

-added 1 carpet anemone (NEED TO IDENTIFY!)

4/6/2010

-smaller true perc passed away - think kena whack by the bigger one.. :(

the sole survivor has yet to host the carpet anemone..

but on a brighter side, it is out exploring the tank and "glass-surfing"..

hope it takes interest in the anemone soon..

post-4601-005352900 1278608638_thumb.jpg

anemone has already settled down and dig into the sand.. opening up very nicely... but very hard to take a good picture of it as it position itself very near the display panel..

can anyone identify it for me.. should be a s.haddoni right?

post-4601-050864400 1278608633_thumb.jpg

anyway.. bro larry, the anchor coral you passed to me is opening up nicely.. thanks!

post-4601-069217500 1278608641_thumb.jpg

next time then :)

maybe when i feeling less lazy we can go lfs island hopping next time.. when got time lah.. and mood

it sure looks like a haddoni, yup i ignorantly gotten a bleach anemone from CF.. but so far its not complaining or showing signs of stress.. it still have the little green tint on its short tentacles..

no problems on the eggcrate, i need to clear my room of all the excess fish stuff anyway ;)

tank is roughly 3weeks cycled..

bought a much larger true percula to pair up with my smaller one..

when i added her in, bought of them naturally look at each other and paired up..

they are both happily hosting the carpet anemone now..

redid my sump area..

decided to do away with the FR and convert the area to grow chaetomorpha algae..

pointed the hose at the refugium area and to my suprise, the chaeto was tossed into the ball effect..

heard that it helps the chaeto to get rid of detritus builtup in it with the tumbling effect.
